Haven’t posted much recently due to some personal things, but the game against the Mad Ants on Tuesday was a good time. My son made a “JD Davidson is my g-league goat sign” and being a 12:30pm Tuesday game we were right behind the scorers table and JD saw it and gave him a nod and 2 thumbs up which was pretty good. JD himself is too good for g league but unless he gets a chance on a young rebuilding NBA team it’s going to be tough for him and that was even more true in person. He scored a ton, got a lot of assists, and it was pretty easy for the most part. The problem is he has the ball in his hands so much and is never going to be able to play that way on the Celtics. Guys like Schierman, Petersen and Scrubb you can see how they’d play in Boston bc it’s a similar role.

Speaking of Bayler, my oldest daughter made a “In my Baylor Swift Era” sign that I think embarrassed him as he gave a little chuckle when she yelled out his name. He was ice cold to start and shoots it from unnecessarily far behind the line and they’re straight darts with long rebounds. Later in the game he caught score with more traditional range shots and had a chance to be the hero of the game, but Scrubb completely lost track of the game clock. Baylor hit an and-1 layup that was ruled a flagrant (which btw being so close and such a small crowd the refs can hear you and one was fired of it which was kinda funny). He made the free throw and had a chance for a 5-6 point play as we got the call out of bounds with .6. Baylor cuts toward the near corner and Scrubb passed him the ball as he was running away from the basket and not to his spot. He tried his best to stop and fire up a fadeaway which he swished, but obviously can’t all happen in .6 seconds. JD and Baylor specifically looking at Scrubb like wtf were you doing lol.

Scrubb himself seems to be pretty athletic again and hope he gets a shot. He could be an end of rotation/stay ready crew guy like we thought was possible in the past.

Petersen was most impressive to me. Did a little of everything. Playmaker at times, designated scorer at times as he caught fire in the second half as they took the lead, and solid defense for g-league style of play standards. A guy unlike JD who you can see how he’d fit into Boston with a lesser role too, because he didn’t have to dominate the ball.

Ward is better and more of a prospect than Pippen but idk if he’s 2-way worthy. Maybe wait and see longer on him if Petersen gets a full deal which I could see like they’ve done with Queta and Hauser.

Rodman with some good energy out there too.

For the price (which we got free tix from a Mad Ants player who I’m rooting to get a 2-way opportunity) at only $10 a ticket and general seating it was a great game and next time in I’m Indy for work might take a long lunch and catch another game.

Any Baylor stans still out there?

He almost made a Triple-Double.
Not too shabby.

I remain very encouraged by his passing. 36.4% from three on 10 attempts per game after he bricked everything in summer league is a good sign too.

I was never too worried about his shooting, but just the overall physicality/defense angle of how he can hang at the NBA level was a little open ended. Hopefully he can keep showing flashes, will be fun to follow his progress if he doesn't totally flame out.

Seems like a guy teammates would love to play with. The anti-Springer lol.

Scheierman with that Chris Mullin stroke and Larry Bird full court pass, inbounding the ball. Thing of beauty. Good to see his shooting come around.

You mentioned Chris Mullin and Larry Bird in the same sentence with Scheierman. Maybe the kid has something in him

At this point the only thing we can say he has in common with Mullin and Bird is a lack of melanin. Hoping for the best though as he’s shown signs in g-league. Hopefully he’s not a AAAA player who’s just not capable of showing it in the NBA.

Nice win! Though, I think Baylor could have been called for 2 offensive fouls there.

Looks like he's trimmed some baby fat, too--which should help him hang defensively.

I’m rooting for Rico because he was the C’s draft pick, but I’ve watched a lot of Maine this season and his defense is not very good and he’s still slow. They had to play him more at the 1 and he’s been effective but I don’t see that happening in the big league.
