We shouldn't rush to extend him.

Poole is not RJ. One has the reputation of a cancer and has stupid shot selection. The other improved his efficiency by leaps and bounds since leaving New York.

Should we extend him? No. It’s the same thing I said about Jak. We don’t need to rush anything.

You have your opinions, I agree with none of them, lets just leave it at that. Thanks for the reply.

lol. You have some good things to say sometimes, and I appreciate the response.
I believe in Masai.

The stats don't tell the whole story...

I remember 99% of knicks board was ecstatic he was gone which I found odd cause he was pretty nice for us but once honeymoon phase was over you started seeing the flaws and empty calories, he is not part of the future and is a gonner soon as a decent deal comes along, just continue to rehab his value for now

Replace him with this 2025 pick. An extension would ruin us.

It all depends on the $. But I doubt RJ gives us a discount so we shouldn't extend at this point.

23 yr old old lottery pick 20+ ppg player

Its what half the board is hoping we'd be drafting

First of all, 24.

Second, no, we're all hoping to get a 19 year old doing that. Not a player going onto his 3rd contract and into his 7th year in the league. We've already got 100mil tied up in this mid AF core, we dont need to increase it or make it last even longer for no reason.

Just cause he can be extended, doesn't mean it should.

At 23 Poole was given an extension by GSW while putting up 20/3/5 on 57% TS%. Look how that turned out. At least he was only going into year 4, not 7.

If he wants to extend for 25/yr, sure go for it. Anything more, there is no rush at all.

I think it's possible he can improve his trade value, but the downside risk of extending him is way too high. He's young, so it's not that, but the league is moving so far away from his type of guy. Giddey is not dissimilar, despite different strengths on O. You wanna be in the OKC mindset on that one, not the Chicago Bulls one.

He's a 6th man. You're not a starter anymore if you aren't a star on O, are bad on D and can't bury open 3s when better players draw help and nobody respects your shot enough to close hard and allow drives on those close outs.

If this was 1989, he'd be a good starter. Many such cases.

If that happens, the contract could turn into a real bargain

He's already making that. If he takes $30 million per year then fine, 4 years.

30 mil is only going to be 15% of the cap by the time his extension would kick in. Though he probably would paid at a higher rate.

Wait until we see how he looks with whatever rookie we draft. Extension talk is at least a year away.

Yes, we also want our 23-year-old to not be one of the worst defenders in the NBA and to score efficiently.

You may be misremembering.

We locked in Lowry for a 4 year 48mill for only 12m per hear during his breakout bpm and Allstar season

If masai offer him an extension, does that mean he is part of the core?
