The Magic allowed Franz to talk to the media and he is on the practice floor. He is not doing 5 on 5 yet but he is very close it sounded from what he said. Reinforcements are coming.

Does any other team in the league assign players to conditioning after an extended injury? Not saying we’re being weird. Maybe other teams just keep that under wraps or keep the player as out due to the original injury.

Getting Franz back sooner would be a godsend..... The guys did their best and probably gained more confidence but it's time to get things back in order..... Then there's Gary Harris.............

I'd say Thursday Jan 23 or Saturday Jan 25 are the most likely Franz return dates.

Seems like Franz is going to miss more than 17 games, which is the limit for season awards. I had to look it up, i thought he might rushing back (compared to Paolo) with a chance to make an all nba team.

I think they need reconsider the Rose Rule as it relates to super max rookie extensions...conceivably twenty of the top guys could miss 17 games or more, which would mean the 35th best player would make all nba...kind of puts an extra burden on up and coming teams with young guys on discounted contracts.

Not that I am against Franz get some extra coin, but the way he was playing with Paolo out, it felt like there was a real chance Orlando was looking at Franz and Paolo making 60% of the cap in two years, rather than 50% you'd expect from two top 35ish players. Franz is 8th in the league BPM, but largely driven from all the usage with Paolo out.

The Rose rule was to award younger guys that projected to be MVP caliber players during their 2nd contract, so if you were a top 15 player by your 5th year its a huge accomplishment, not so sure if you are the 35th best player by that time. Doncic is a great example of a deserving player. Paolo...maybe... The All NBA team hasnt even been about stats in a given year, reputation played in, so making all NBA as a young guy was really really hard.

Cade and Mobley might get there this year, but neither strike me as MVP type candidates...and as much as I love Franz, he's not the best player on a contender kind(MVP) of guy.

I'd be surprised if cade or Mobley makes all nba, I don't think they're on that level.... All-star? That's a different story

If enough guys miss over 17 games, I wouldn’t rule anything out.

Since the Magic are usually short on players for games, they should bring him back to sit on the bench. That way he is active for awards.

Franz will be back either against Portland or Detroit from sources within the organization. They do not know yet but it is one of those two games.
