PISTONS
In:MPJ/Banton
Out:THJ/Fontecchio/SRP25(Raptors)/SRP29(Milw)
The Pistons advance their construction and get Cade a long-term partner, without losing any of his best assets
NUGGETS
In:J.Grant/R.Williams
Out:MPJ/Nnaji
It's basically a 2x1. Grant replaces Porter's score and Williams backs up Jokic and they could also play together. Denver gains depth and improves its defense
BLAZERS
In:THJ/Nnaji/Micic/SRP25(Raptors)/SRP29(Miller)
Out:Grant/Williams
gets 2 good SRP and saves a ton of future money, canceling Grant's long term contract
HORNETS
In: Fontecchio
Out:Micic
Hornets obtain a more valuable asset than the one they give up, to turn it around later....
would you prefer to send Okogie?
(They could eliminate Hornets if they have no interest...maybe the Warriors for Payton?)

Sigh. All of these MPJ offers on this board are just so terrible. Am I overvaluing him? Whey are posters always trying to trade him for spare parts? Jerami Grant has been terrible and that contract is an absolute disaster. And while I wouldn't hate Time Lord on Denver, he's basically a walking injury at this point. You can get the same production in limited minutes from DeAndre Jordan.
If Denver is going to move MPJ, it's to acquire an All Star talent to pair with Jokic, not to downgrade in every way possible when, come playoff time, the rotations will be shortened. Denver's starting five, with Westbrook, Watson and Strawther off the bench is good enough.

Good enough for what though? The Nuggets don't like paying the tax, they have the majority of their cap space tied up in 4 players through the 26-27 season, MPJ is the only one with fairly positive value aside from Jokic who they'd never trade, and they have limited draft picks to improve organically. I don't think it's that insane to talk about turning MPJ into a number of serviceable role players.
To be fair, I wouldn't do this trade because I think Grant overlaps too much with Gordon and Timelord's availability is too big a question mark given the need for a reliable backup for Jokic.

Think there are better deals out there.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Starters play 38 minutes per game in the playoffs. Assume Westbrook will play over 30. Strawther and Watson play 20 or so. That's good enough. Maybe Denver needs a backup big man to rack up some fouls, but if they are going to trade MPJ, it's going to be to upgrade the starting lineup, not to bring in two bodies to get them through February and March.
This isn't the worst offer I've seen on this board, but it's usually the same thing. Trading MPJ for scrap pieces. It just doesn't make a lot of sense. Denver should be aiming higher if they're going to move him. Not downgrade.

Re: Pistons /Nuggets/Blazers/Hornets
That’s just it though — Denver can’t ‘aim higher” and move MPJ, because other teams are wary of his contract, injury history, and limited skillset. But he’s good at what he does (shoot, mostly, but he’s improved as a defender), Denver knows him, and he works pretty well with Jokic.
He’s not gonna get moved.

Would be a tough pill to swallow for Portland, but it has some merit.

Re: Pistons /Nuggets/Blazers/Hornets
I think I'd pass. Fontecchio was an asset when he was hitting 40% then 43% from deep last season and on a minimum... I don't know that he is one if he's just 36% and owed $8M+ next year.
Compensate Charlotte for eating money next year when Micic can simply have his option declined, and we'll talk but I don't know that Fontecchio has positive value. Not to us anyway.
