non-minutes police here. thibs fan as well.

i both understand and agree with a lot of what they are saying.

i didn't work "played for thibs" into my evaluation this time because they played for him as an assistant like a generation ago. a lot has changed (both to their point and outside its scope).

but yeah, they know him more intimately than most who will weigh in. i find it fascinating and constructive after all.

I wouldn’t trivialize his role as an assistant coach tho. The guy was basically their defensive coach, and had a significant enough of authority in practices to make them run particular drills over and over and over like KG said, to the point where they had a heated face to face shouting match.

Judging by Thibs approach to coaching, not much has changed in terms of minute management since his early days as HC to now either.

They both played 38-39 minutes per during their prime. Not only are they full of sheit, they aren’t familiar with the current team.

Did you watch the video? Even they said what the majority of us have all been saying (which is a fact), that the pace of today’s game is far far greater than the old days. A convenient omission by Thibs supporters. 38-39 mpg then is nowhere near equal to 38-39 mpg now

They were telling war stories about how he ran them in practice. This team doesn’t practice, which is a huge adjustment. If they knew more about the team, they’d know that. Add to that, these guys aren’t playing as many minutes as they did at this point in their career. Thibs wasn’t even the head coach.

Wasn’t trivializing the AC role and their situation then. Just recognizing it’s not apples to apples.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

The team being worn down from practice is not what I took from the conversation at all. Pierce was talking about needing to add more depth because the starters are playing 40+ minutes and not believing it's sustainable through the playoffs with the signs of fatigue halfway through the season and in 4th quarters.

Garnett asked who is going to tell Thibs that and Pierce said no one could tell Thibs what to do and used Garnett, the teams leader on those Celtics not being able to tell Thibs what to do in practice as an example. It wasn't a story about fatigue of his players from practice specifically imo but just a story about how stubborn Thibs is.

He never mentioned Thibs wearing the Knicks down in practice. He never mentioned the minutes they were playing in Boston where KG actually played much less than he did in Minnesota even though that Boston team was looked at as top heavy and having questionable depth when he arrived like the Knicks are currently. He did mention that the game has changed from practicing to pace and old ways of thinking with Thibs knowing one way to do things.

Do you think Thibs also practicing with his team less mitigates all those other things mentioned in the conversation?

Serious question here. When was the last time we won a game and somebody said “the knicks just out coached the opposing team”

Thibs has always been blessed with strong rosters. His players win the games not him.

we dont have to like Paul Pierce... but KG and Pierce NAIL IT!
And the phrased it better. The said these regular season games are playing like all star games; just look at the scoring. You can't
cant even practice. They also mentioned the Knicks 4th quarters as evidence of fatigue. Nodope and others have presented the numbers to support that claim. KG said the bench is not being developed and that's why we dont have one.

Leon will be tested this off season if Thibs doesnt change.
