Top/Top Presti doing Presti things

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Sat Jan 18, 2025 2:43 pm

Niang (Minivan)
2030 swap rights(top 1 protected) maybe top 4?

for

Kenrich
25 worst 1st OKC ends up with (currently LAC at 22)

Cavs duck tax. Pick up a 3&D forward. Get a first to either trade for something or plug in cheap depth next year.

Presti pushes back an asset again, looking for a potential high variance play.

A pick 22 for a pick swap from the Cavs, protected on top of all? A swap is uncertain to convey, and even if it does it may not be that great When you add its from a young team, I think I'd rather keep that 22nd pick now (or move it for other assets). If you were talking about an unprotected swap from a different team, that may be a different story.

This looks tempting, but giving up another pick for scraps isn't ideal imo.

Not sure you read this right? Cleveland gains a pick here.

Feels about right. And Niang isn’t the worth fitting piece for OKC imo..

Pick is likely better than the pick Presti gave Dallas for Gafford.. but think it’s still worth it.

The Kenrich ties seem real though, that’s the biggest question to me.

We get a pick in the 20's for a high variable very lightly protected swap. Who knows how this team will look like in 2030.

Yes, now you've got it.

This is whole idea. Cleveland trades that variance risk for 3 things: 3&D forward they are seeking who fits the budget and not just this year. Keeps the tax clock from starting a year too early, and they get an immediate pick they can use for more cheap depth or to trade to fill another need.

Now that risk may not be for you. Totally understandable. But Cleveland is getting stuff here so in exchange they need to give OKC a reason to participate. OKC has a bunch of low level assets they are happy to move in order at some chance of getting a better one in 6 years.

But that's the concept. Not Cleveland giving up a pick just to turn Niang into Williams.

The pick might be 22nd right now.. but it’s just an unprotected LAC first. One game out of a playin match up with a team they probably wouldn’t beat (KD / Minn / Sac).. 3 games out of the lottery with Curry doing his best to keep GSW in it..

I’m sure Miami pick might convey or Philly goes on a run etc.. But the pick is a bit better than just labeling it 22nd..

I think OKC would be open to moving their lowest pick on draft night for a swap (probably a bit more protected) - but you don’t make a pick move like this until you know where they land.

I also think Kenrich has extra ‘our guy’ value to OKC and think his ability to play emergency C at a surprising level is important with their meh big depth and Chet being out. The player part of this is a no for OKC IMO.

Doubt we moving off on Kenrich .

Any potential trades starts with Dieng .
