I’m so sick at yall pulling at my heart strings lol

Maybe he’s going on something. Maybe not. It seems like speculative. Other than breaking news, I’ve been eyeing his speculation with less credit ever since he thought the Bears could get a first round pick for Fields.

Honestly, I think all anyone can do right now is speculate. It’s like I said the other day, this whole process is being hi-jacked by the playoffs as 5 of the top candidates can’t talk to anyone right now. So with that, we just have tons and tons of speculation. You know we’re there when we start talking about where guys laid their head…

This is blowing up in NFL media/social media. Not that locally we didn’t already know that Trace Armstrong was the fisherman that keeps hooking the same fish.

If I had to guess, Caleb would be good with either of Johnson or McCarthy.

If he has a preference, if I’m the Bears, I would work on appeasing him to the furthest extent possible after all this team has put him through. Everything goes into the data processor for Caleb in 3 years.

Heart and Brain is telling me to find a new team FAST, while McCarthy can get you to the playoffs he can't win in them so i'm not sold on him whatsoever

I don't get it. Does this mean that you want Bellichek or Carrol? Those are the only 2 with better track records left. Flores, Johnson and others haven't done anything close to McCarthy.

I think McCarthy is the safe pick to rebuild and get us to the playoffs quickly. Johnson could be boom or bust but it's a tall task for a 1st time HC to come in and turn us into a winner quick.

They really missed their opportunity with Harbaugh last year.

McCarthy strikes me as the rare B to C coach when ABCD are all in the alphabet. He will assuredly be better than Eberflus and about 60% of coaches out there. If everything is setup perfectly, he could help win a championship. He's not a coach who can consistently overcome the lack of puzzle pieces out there.

Ben Johnson is unknown. He might be phenomenal. He also might be a dud and fail like Josh McDaniels. You simply don't know.

It's why Carroll is my preferred choice, but I can get down with McCarthy.

I guess the question to ask is, are you willing to risk it all for Ben Johnson,? If he doesn't work out, are you blaming Poles or are you willing to give Poles another crack because he went with the consensus of the fan base?

Like what Bill Parcels used to say: if you do what the fans want , you'll soon be sitting with them

simulated offseason...

coach - ben johnson
cuts - everett

free agency

DT milt williams - 3 yrs, 66 mil - age 26-28 - PFF #32 FA, #2 DI ("rotational, serious pass-rush juice, limited tread on tires") - very good player, big overpay - grade D+

CB DJ reed - 3 yrs, 53 mil - age 28-30 - PFF #6 overall FA, #1 corner - decent value - grade A

LG aaron banks - 1 yr, $16 mil - age 28 - 3 yr starter for niners - healthier than jenkins but not nearly as good - severe overpay - grade F

EDGE demarcus lawrence - 2 yrs, 21 mil - age 33-34 - returning from injury - good value and good hedge in advance of draft, vet leadership important to changing culture - grade A-

RG will fries - 1 yr, 6.5 mil - age 26 - PFF overall #24 just ahead of jenkins, #2 G ("tremendous strides over the duration of his rookie contract") - coming off broken shin after great start to season - good "prove it" value - grade B+

LB lavonte david - 2 yrs, 19 mil - age 35-36 - 3x all pro, last in 2020 - replaces sanborn, could supplant edmunds as starter - another great leader, but questionable fit in lineup and thus pricey - has started every game of career, played almost every snap, and missed 14 games in 13 years - grade C+

LB tyrel dodson - 1 yr, 5.5 mil - age 27 - "Dodson is a strong tackler with above-average coverage skills and enough burst to moonlight as an occasional blitzer. The AFC's Defensive Player of the Week in Week 17 is a do-it-all linebacker." - bleacher report - nice depth signing coming off first year as significant contributor - grade B+

IOL jon feliciano - 1 yr, 2.5 mil - age 33 - has played center - missed 2024 to knee surgery
LG laken tomlinson - 3 yrs, 4 mil - age 33 - pro bowl 2021 - iron man who appears to be on his last legs
WR odell beckham - 1 yr, 1.5 mil - age 32 - surgery in preseason, waived late in season
CB michael jackson - 2 yrs, 2 mil - age 28-29 - barely played first 3 seasons, emerged last 2 - superb depth signing - grade A

draft rd. 1

TEN - sanders
CLE - ward
NYG - hunter
pats - johnson
jags - graham
LVR - pearce
NYJ - carter
CAR - burden
NO - mcmillan
BEARS - EDGE mykel williams (passing on jeanty and OL campbell)

remaining draft needs and rd. 2 possibilities - WR3 (bond, harris or ayomanor), long-term answers on O-line (milum, savaiinaea, membou, d. jackson), safety depth (emmanwori?)

overall - change for sake of change on IOL, defense pretty stacked - grade B

God help US health care

He is one of the highest paid coaches in the league. So at least we know they are willing to spend.

But spending for Tomlin a proven coach, compared to Ben Johnson who isn’t, is gonna be telling.

I smell the possibility of an upset today with the Chiefs/Texans. KC has been winning by a shoestring for much of the season, and the Texans looked really good last week. Doubt they'll pull it off, but it's possible.

It doesn’t matter, it’s not about control. It’s about maximizing your long term asset.

I don't. I think you'll see how far away Houston is from actually contending.

Nothing against McCarthy, I am beginning to hope for the Bears to come off the top rope to land Marcus Freeman. It’s a long shot, but it hasn’t been shot down yet. And Aaron Glenn has been quietly rising up the ranks.

That's too bad. We could have used that 3rd round compensatory pick this year and in 2026. We have some pressing needs in the trenches, RB and Safety.

The FO tanked, and spent the better part of 3 years acquiring him. And Ryan Poles barely dodged the grim reaper in the process. There’s no other option here other than force it to work by any means necessary.
