Eh, they were still blowing out teams and winning a bunch of games despite the injuries and were still most people's pick as the NFC favorite. They just got wrecked, plain and simple, and a lot of it had to do with their 5 turnovers. The defense being bad still wouldn't have mattered if they didn't turn it over so much. That's just bad offensive execution, and that comes down to the QB and the coaching. Credit to Washington's defense too.

But even for those people that wanted to give Goff the benefit of the doubt after the year he had, this was a pretty damning performance. Not sure how you could ever trust him to be the franchise QB when you have SB aspirations after this one.

Ben Johnson is going to be gone also.

I hate to be dramatic but he was in his head. He underthrew that ball to Jameson Williams in the endzone after he overthrow on that pick 6.

The trick plays that the Lions run almost every game, including that last one which resulted in an interception as Washington wasn’t fooled by it, induces eye rolls.

That wunderkid is calling gimmick plays instead of running behind that dominant OL — Gibbs was gashing them — or play action and throw the in cuts. Lions have WRs who win often enough, especially when defenses have to honor the play fakes.

The cutesy plays may be fun when winning but they look dumb when they’re losing by 2 or 3 scores in the second half of a playoffs game.

Interesting that they’re both NFC North teams, put up gaudy wins and stats in the regular season and brutally underperform in the playoffs.

The NFC North went 0-3 in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the NFC East is currently 3-0. We'll see what happens with the Eagles.

But definitely an embarrassing showing for the NFC North.

I just remembered Dan Quinn was on the 2023 Cowboys staff, too.

This is strange, because surely one would expect a SB-winning owner/GM to recognize good coaches and not let them leave.

This sentiment exactly has been the Talk around here in LA. They threw their Dice and the gamble paid off for them. Rams Stafford Superbowl Champion. Lions Goff...i hate to use the choke word....but that is the sentiment here in LA

That went out the window long ago when Jimmy Johnson was fired Lol. And Dan Quinn is still fondly remembered as being part of the biggest choke job in SB history.

Nah I knew a month ago they would fall on their face. From coaches to quarterback they've been making mental mistakes since last year whenever stakes get high.

If I was the Rams DC, my key priority is to stop our MVP nominee from rushing non stop down their kazoo by forcing us to win the game thru the air passing to AJ, to detemine how much the #1 selliing book had risen from his truly sideline activity has impacted his mental state to withstand enormous pressure when it matters most by catching every pass attempt his way to win the game for us. This will not only carry us onto the conference final, but the book will instantly reach epic levels in sales like never before.

So which QB collapsed hardest?

Herbert, Love, Darnold, or Goff?

Honestly, with the amount of hype he's gotten and the fact that his team was the favorite, Herbert would probably be my pick, followed very closely by Goff. Only because people were still wary of having too much faith in Goff, while Herbert got the benefit of the doubt. Nobody really expected much out of Darnold either, and Love's team was the underdog anyway, and you can at least say they got decimated by injuries.

They all played horribly though.

Darnold or Goff.

Herbert was on the 5th seed that hardly made the playoffs (6th and 7th seeds choked down the stretch). They probably should've won but road playoff games are tough. Herbert is still on his first NFL team too.

So the answer is probably Goff since he has already went to a Super Bowl, had the #1 seed (bye week), and were playing at home. Plus his defense was beat up, they needed him to play well.

Rams had already beat the Vikings and tanked for that matchup. Darnold showed weakness the week prior when they lost the division and the #1 seed.

Love was playing hurt, on the road. He's still just in his 2nd season as a starter. He's the youngest of the bunch too.

Herbert didnt play well but he lost to a superior team, he doesnt have whole lot to work with in Los Angeles. I think most people suspected Darnold was performing above his abilities and would come back down to earth at some point.

Chargers and Vikings were -2.5 point favorites, Detroit was a -8.5 point favorite.
