I really don't want Elton taking over again once Morey leaves. We've seen that show, and even assuming he's learned things the past few years... hard pass. Need a clean house. That includes ownership, who is persona non grata AFAIC.

CHI gets KCP, G Harris, KJM, and two 2nds from PHI
ORL gets LaVine, 26 OKC 1st, 28 LAC 1st
PHI gets Black
IDK if Anthony Black is worth that, but he is a talented kid who fits what the Sixers need (big defending guard that can distribute) and that's probably what it would cost to get ORL to let him go. Black would be like Maxey's version of Eric Snow but who still has plenty of time to find his offense. At least directionally it's logical?

Bulls won’t do it as owner isn’t interested in a rebuild

I don't think the Bulls are getting a rebuild package there. That's a treadmill package. And they save like 5M. Should be perfect for their cheap owner.

Naw... I don't even think directionally it makes sense to give up 2 picks for a guy that projects as a backup guard here long-term. I'd like to get a big guard in here that can play with Maxey or McCain, just not at that price (or that player).

Maxey and McCain is not a long term backcourt. If you’re keeping both, one is the sixth man. Works out for now with McCain on a rookie deal.
They need to get a bigger guard who can run the offense and defend while being able to knock down a shot. This way you maximize Maxey off ball (where he belongs).
Black may not be an optimal target, though; and the price point is certainly high, maybe too high to pay. It’s just that the options that fit the archetype are limited.
Would have loved to have gotten Dyson Daniels before NOP dealt him to ATL.

I don't know what to make of whether Maxey/McCain can work well together. Certainly they're not an ideal fit due to size and neither being a standout defender, but I think we tend to overlook the offensive upside of pairings on first glance due to that. McCain's craftiness on ball and passing instincts, accompanied by his obvious off ball value, intrigue me as a guy to pair with Maxey, and he held up better than expected defensively based on his size and age. We just went through this with Maxey/Melton next to Harden, and while Melton felt like the better fit in terms of making up for deficiencies, the talent and offensive impact Maxey brought made him the far superior option. My guess would be the Maxey/McCain pairing is less than ideal, but too talented for either to go to the bench, so you just stagger them.
Also... I just don't really think Anthony Black brings what you want aside from size anyway.
I'd be more interested in a tough, hard nosed guard that can do a little bit of everything. A guy like Andrew Nembhard feels like the type you want as the 3rd guard with those 2 (whether that be starting or getting big minutes off the bench). Or the mythical creature that is a healthy Lonzo Ball.
Most of the guys that check the defense and playmaking boxes have broken jumpers.

Yep. LaMelo would be the perfect answer, but I don't think Charlotte is making him available.

Sounds like we could use Dylan Harper. Just saying.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread
Melton and Harden function like wings on defense thanks to their impressive wingspans.
On the other hand, a Maxey-McCain backcourt defensively might resemble the struggles of a Dame-CJ pairing.
The most realistic approach would be to emulate how the Raptors utilized FVV and Lowry—playing them together in stretches without necessarily starting or finishing games with that lineup. However, it’s worth noting that even Lowry and FVV likely had a higher defensive ceiling than Maxey and McCain.

I wonder if the Warriors would be a legitimate trade partner for us. You’d have to think that they make one last splash move to make a run with Steph.
I’d give them a call to see if theyd take PG off our hands.

Based on the amount of interest in Jimmy (and presumably giving him his next deal), I imagine there would be handful of teams in the market for PG.
I kinda doubt Morey is interested in moving him though. I think this is a one year tank and re-load situation.

It's definitely a tank and retool situation. That's why it's so important to keep our draft pick. With that being said, getting rid of Paul George should still be an option we explore if the opportunity presents itself.

Sixers trades:
KJ Martin Jr.
Remove top 6 protection of the 2025 Sixers 1st
OKC trades:
Alex Caruso
Thunder does it for salary dump, where Caruso seems mike a bad signing for them (Caruso’s contract will bloat to 19M next season) and the trade also assures the Thunder that Sixers pick will convey.

That’s too high of a price for Caruso.
