I wish VJ was like 2 inches taller.

5/41 from three in his last 9 games. He might be prettty close to banning stat sheets from BYU locker room.

No idea why he's ranked top 10.

Mostly the potential at this point. Him having an elite court-vision at 6'9 is a rare combination. But it's now clear that he's much further away in other areas of his game, some of which severely limit the advantage of his court vision, because it's just that much harder for him to playmake when he's not an offensive threat in any other way. If he doesn't turn it around, I hope someone advises him to stay in BYU for another year and take advantage of playing next to AJ Dybantsa. He will look much better.

If we were taking him we would definitely need to sell on one of Gradey or RJ. I can see his fit next to IQ as a ball stopper at the sg position but Gradey and RJ are also primarily sgs as well. Gradey is tall enough to play the 3 but would be an even bigger sieve defensively, RJ isn't as good when he plays up at sf/pf.

He is small to play the SG spot, much like we play Barrett at SF.
Yeah, offensively, maybe he is limited as a SG.

Edgecomb is my 4th. The guys in top 3 will probably all be better quicker, VJ I think could take a littler longer, but has a higher ceiling than the others behind him. I think he takes time to learn the nuances but that on a squad with a couple creators like Scottie and RJ he could develop enough with ball skills and point guard skills and mentality enough to be able to complement a duo like them. Not saying that’s a long term duo to keep or whatever but he’s got a lot of raw talent. Remember Westbrook out of college? Wasn’t the ball dominant player he’d later become and was more of a 7-10 pick than a 4th overall at rhe end of the ncaa tourney the year he was drafted.

VJ plays like a SF anyway. We would put him on the best offensive wing player, 2 or 3. I do see the upside in VJ, his summer highlights in FIBA leads me to hope there's more juice there for him

Flagg has left Harper in the dust.

Getting the 3rd pick would be such a Raptors thing to do.

On one hand yes, that is a great position. But then there is a big decision on who we pick up.

Then he would be the #2 pick getting 2 blocks to go with his 2.5 steals per game.

Ace if he's there, Harper if he's there. I agree it'd suck to lose out on Cooper. He's probably the best #1 pick outside of Wemby since Ben Simmons (although Zion in 2019 is an argument)

VJ plays like Marcus Smart, except Smart was a lot stronger.

Hes 6’3 without shoes. Since he’s not a PG, and is more of a SG or smallball SF, VJ really needs to put 20lbs of muscle.

VJ seems like he has a good understanding of the game. Combine that with his athleticism and you got a very intriguing player. You just know he’s going to be a good player. Question is how good can he be if he develops the other parts of his game?

Top 3 are no brainer in this draft imo

Flagg
Harper/Ace
Ace/Harper

I can’t see any executive passing on Ace at 3. If he flops, you can point to all his strengths and say, “you can’t pass on that!” If he becomes what he could be, you point to his strengths and say, “you passed on that?”

Jakucionis is pretty easily 4th for me. No way I’m taking VJ over him.

He looks tiny in his footage. Every time I watch film on him, I’m like man, Houston is so damn lucky Amen fell to 4th for them.

Illinois vs Michigan State coming up now. Kasparas live....

...and I was confused...thinking we'd also see Jeremiah Fears. Instead...there's Jeramy Fears Jr. Also a freshman...but not a lottery pick.

Jakucionis got a couple quick ticky tack fouls called on him, but Will Riley went full Kobe mode there. 16 points in 10 minutes.

NB...I did not know that Jeramy Fears Jr. is Jeremiah Fears' older brother. LOL

Terrible call by the refs for Jaku 4th foul. Have taken him out of the game

Sadly this isn't the best opportunity to see Kasparas...but who's the dude with the ponytail who looks straight out of a Nirvana music video?

I don't know if these refs are rigging the game, or they're this bad, but nevertheless, they completely took Jakucionis out of the game.

How's Richardson look? Haven't seen him yet, not sure he's coming out, but his stats are kind of incredible? Like if you were trying to build the profile of someone playing off-ball who is actually an NBA starting PG just on a team with more experienced (Fears slightly, Holloman for sure) small guards and a freshman hating coach, he'd be like an 8/10. Probably more of a consideration for a team in the teens or 20s, but maybe we get another 1st or trade down or even fall to say #8 or so and the front office just likes him the most out of Fears/Traore/Demin/Philon/Fland.

Like if we get Orlando's 1st (Denver's originally) in a deadline deal and draft Flagg/Bailey and Richardson, makes some sense:

Poeltl-2026TOR
Barnes-
Flagg/Bailey-Agbaji
Dick-Walter
Quickley-Richardson

and maybe a Barrett + 2026 INDY + future firsts trade for a better wing if Agbaji/Dick/Walter are more quality bench wings than good starters, or upgrade on Poeltl in some big deal for a star center.
Where's the D?
