P. Williams for Tucker/Coffey
I’ll offer this simple swap for Bulls to add expiring contracts to the ledger for offseason and Clippers add a young forward.
To Los Angeles
-Patrick Williams (5 years, $90 million)
To Chicago (waive someone)
-PJ Tucker (1 year, $11.5 million)
-Amir Coffey (1 year, $3.9 million)
The Clippers add to frontcourt with a 23 year old 4 man
The Bulls just acquire straight cap flexibility this summer as they can look to start re-tooling.

Pretty sure CHI is not looking to dump Pat.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Nobody is taking PWill without being compensated (he's owed 5 years $90M by the way, not 4/72)
investigate Adam Silver

Be pretty crazy to expect value for him. He's a straight up bad contract and it's difficult to sell him as anything else
18mill/year for a guy who does nothing well and has been a negative player his whole career. Getting expirings for him seems like a stretch in this new CBA era where paying bad players 15% of your cap will really limit you

Love when the first two responses are so different.

So a career 40% 3 pt shooter with solid defense and only 23 years old has someone turned into a negative contract and bad player?

On 3 shots a game. Meh defense, meh rebounding, cant create
I mean you can keep him if you want, but there is no distorting the fact that he's overpaid and playing like a fringe starter on a mediocre team.

Sold in a second
I've been a big PWill supporter, and there is a good player in there some where. But he's SO passive
Still has some talent, and maybe he jump starts his career. Not a bad gamble for the clips

When you’ve been roughly the same player since your rookie season, have a tendency to have no effect to negative effect on a game, your shooting splits have regressed over the course of your career, and you’re locked in $18 million per for 4 seasons after this one. Yes, yes it is.
It’s not just that he’s shooting more 3s and that’s why his percentage is down, he’s even shooting worse on just 2s.
The Bulls, Wizards and a 3rd team should figure out a Kuzma for Williams for whomever centered trade.
Maybe Kuzma finally goes to the Kings, Wizards try to see if Williams can benefit from a change of scenery, Bulls take whatever just to get rid of his contract
As far as the OP, the Bulls should try to get Kobe Brown included. At least gives them a young player to try to develop

Re: P. Williams for Tucker/Coffey
Had injury concerns, has been pretty steady without showing signs of improvement and due $18M for a few more years.
I understand with the Clippers lack of assets, they need a home run type of swing, but this is a strike out.

Re: P. Williams for Tucker/Coffey
Patrick has been a let down. Quick comparison between him and Coffey
6'7 215lbs
23 years old
5/90 million
9.3 / 3.8 / 2.2 on 36% from 3
6'7 210lbs
27 years old
1/4 million
10.4 / 2.6 / 1.2 on 43% from 3
So Williams is a bit bigger, younger, gets paid a ton more, and is shooting 7% from less from 3 this year.
I'm not sure the on court impact going from one to the other is a big difference.
Only way Clippers make this kind of deal is if they feel like Williams has more to give and just needs a change. But as of today, Williams is not worth that deal he signed. Coffey could likely be flipped to a number of contenders for a few 2nds.

congrats, you have just described Josh Green, who nobody wants at 3 years $40M, let alone 5/$90M
(Green turned 24 in November, but you get my drift)
investigate Adam Silver

Coffey's better right now and I expect the Clippers would rather have nothing than a slightly taller Toney Snell making $18M/yr for a long time.

My fellow Grizz fans may disagree but I see elite role player potential in Paw. Grizz need a big wing who can hit 3’s this kid checks the boxes for me and we would move him to Small Forward role and make the game simpler for him would be my hope.

Has Mann fallen that far from good graces? What's going on there. Went from untouchable to wanting him gone?
Just a bad fit with Harden or did he just regress?
He was always a guy i wanted Sac to go after, but I feel we got our Mann with Keon.

Mann is still a good player but has been fighting injuries and Coffey is taking a lot of his minutes. DJJ and Dunn also taking minutes. Clips are in an enviable position of having too many wings on the roster esp with Kawhi coming back. They do need another big and also a PG/scorer to lead the 2nd unit.
