I think it is kind of the opposite.
The mass amount of media and fan attention (or "hand wringing") put their continued incompetence out in public and openly questioned.

Poles and Warren deserve props for getting Johnson, but we are literally here right now because of the prior F-ups (see Flus, Getsy and Waldron vs Quinn and KK).
Let's not act like Quinn and KK were can't miss coaches everyone wanted.

Not a fan of Dennis Allen. With that stated, hope he supports replacing some pieces on defense like Trumaine Edmunds

Why aren’t you an Allen fan?

Maybe Edmunds plays better under Allen. Different scheme different responsibilities and hopefully a more aggressive approach systematically
He's a guy who didn't meet his potential elsewhere. He's the guy we downgraded to from Roquan. Even with the cost of Roquon, we all would like him now.

Edmunds is a good 3rd linebacker if you got Briggs and Urlacher back there. We don't.

Warren didn’t have anything to do with Eberflus getting hired and Poles is only semi- accountable for it given the short list that he was given…with a particular guy (Flus) being pushed.

Can't miss? No, no one is can't miss.
Better prospects than who was selected? Yes.

If I remember correctly it was Phillips or the committee that recommended Quinn, but Armstrong convinced George to go with Flus.

KK was far higher on my list for OC than Shane.

I don't remember anyone having Flus as their top guy.

Is there a good Lions board to lurk?
Curious to read their thoughts about Johnson, and how losing both Johnson and Glenn will impact them next year.

Speaking of Edmunds, the last thing I hope the Bears do is go out AGAIN and prioritize getting another LB. We have so many needs on the lines, and in the secondary, finding a replacement for Edmunds would be way down on my to do list.

Johnson must have been contemplating this move for awhile now, to make his decision this fast. And apparently Ryan Poles being a lame duck, or "not aligned", wasn't an issue for him.

Yeah we have more pressing needs than Edmunds and who knows how Allen would use him

And Allen?

Yea i don't get it. Allen is pretty damn good as a DC. Sure you don't want him as your head coach, but we're not looking to hire him for that lol. Hell, I think Eberflus will be a great get for a team seeking a DC. Flus was really good here as a defensive play caller. He just isn't a guy you want steering the whole ship. Allen is Flus and a Flus at DC is perfect

He was really good in NO for a long time and hopefully he’s more aggressive than Fluss

CEO coach losing both his OC and DC in one off season... That could end this current team.

Yeah, they still have talent, and a good GM that drafts for that specific team....but that is a LOT to lose.

I wonder if they do internal hires to not change schemes? Maybe the GM was anticipating this?

Based on what Schefty tweeted earlier looks like they are going internal for replacements.

Massive coup!

Got the guy I wanted the most. Hopefully he turns us into a contender for a decade +

I was expecting an unheard-of coordinator from left field. My belief is at about 90% atm, it'll eventually kick in that we actually got THE guy. The thread title needs to change, or it didn't happen.

Does identified mean the Bears want him or the Bears have already hired him?
