Boucher/Bruce B to Denver

Post#1 » by BelgradeNugget » Mon Jan 20, 2025 11:24 pm

Denver trades: Zeke Nnaji, Dario Saric, Vlatko Cancar, Hunter Tyson, 2031 unprotected 1st
Toronto trades: Chris Boucher

To make this work Toronto must waive 3 player - Garrett Temple, Orlando Robinson (or whoever) and Bruce Brown. By taking all of this players from Denver they alow Nuggets to get under 1st apron and sign a buyout player who made more than NTMLE on previous contract. Denver gets Chris Boucher and signes Bruce Brown.

Toronto gets expiring (Vlatko Cancar), young player on a good ungaranteed contract they could keep (Hunter Tyson), Dario Saric ($10.5M/2), bad contract Zake Nnaji ($32M/4) and 2031 unprotected 1st for 2 expiring players

Brown is under no obligation to sign with Denver. Which means you are trading an unprotected first to turn Nnaji into Boucher which seems absolutely horrible. Seems horrible even if Brown signs with you.

Not only that, but given what Denver's FO has said about Brown since he left it seems unlikely he would want to sign with them, IMO.

He is in no obligation to sign with Denver as was the case whit Reggie Jackson when he was traded to Charlote from LAC but everyone knew he is comming to Denver after buyout.
Westbrook was traded to Utah then cut and everyone knew he is comming to Denver after that. So this all starts with the premise of Bruce Brown signing with Denver after buyout.

BTW it would be nice to leave to Nuggets and Raptors fans to comment what they think of this trade for their teams because you proved more than once you don't have slightes idea of what Nuggets need, what is the value of certen players for their team ect. If it was to you, you would trade MPJ for first offer no metter what. Thank good it isn't.
So getting rid of Nnaji's contract + getting Brown and Boucher for pick in 6 years is absolutely wonderful for Denver. But enough of yours and mine opinnion, let's hear other people.

He made a tatoo of Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy with Nuggets logo last year.

Of course Nuggets and Raptors fans should comment. I welcome everyone to comment. As a Mod I'm informing you that you shouldn't tell poster Texas Chuck(or any other poster obviously) not to comment because you don't like their opinion. When you post an OP you need to be open to all feedback, even if its not glowing.

End Mod hat.

Poster hat on. I would not trade Porter Jr for any offer. Of course he is not itt and has no relevance other than again you taking things personally for some reason. And we will disagree on what warrants giving up totally unprotected firsts. And for me this isn't remotely worth it.

I saw on multiple ocasions you commented on Nuggets trades totaly oposite of what any Nuggets fan, with knowleagle of team needs would commented. So everyone is welcomed to comment but if you as poster give yourself right to call my proposal absolutely horrible, I take right to call your knowleage of Nuggets needs absolutely horrible. OK

Those 4 years of Nnaji are brutal in spite of the 1st round pick. I know his cap hit is small, but all those years for a player that cannot come off the bench isn’t worth it. Both teams shouldn’t do it.

Really? Thanks I was unaware...

Here though the value is so bad for Denver, it doesn't matter the needs addressed. They shouldn't do it. But let's look at what they get: A backup big. Not a high impact one, but a regular season playable one for sure that you hope can hold up in the playoffs. That's it.

That guy isn't worth an unprotected 1st. Even with dumping the 3 extra years due Nnaji.

But that's the need you claim to be addressing. Brown isn't a part of this trade nor can you make him be. That is illegal.

So yes value is so bad, the need doesn't matter. I also don't think you meaningfully addressed a need.

But you aren't interested in hearing this from me, so I'll let other posters tell you the same thing and then you can find reasons to find bias in their post rather than reconsidered your idea might have flaws.

If you could prove that that there was an agreement to wave Brown, and have him then re-sign with the Nuggets, it would be an attempt to circumvent the CBA and subject to penalty by the NBA. Also, when you make those agreements, they're completely unenforceable. You only control the incoming and outgoing players, nothing else.

Cant really prove these things though. Dallas paid for buyout of peja via a separate trade before.

Which is part of the reason for increased eyes. Dallas also used to trade players with a handshake agreement the other team would immediately waive them for Dallas to re-sign (Stackhouse and Henderson prime examples). Which is why that rule was instituted because Dallas was abusing it.

Here it would be super obvious what was happening and I'd be stunned if the league allowed Denver to sign Brown.

That was a long time ago. There's a risk the league blows up the deal. There's a risk the Raptors waive another player and trade Brown to another team. There's a risk Brown signs elsewhere. That's a lot of risk with an unprotected first attached to it.

Can Denver sign a player over MLE if bought out? I thought their payroll was too high.

Theres definitely risks involved. One thing that works in their favor is masai's former connection to the denver organization, but i agree with other teams fans that this is too risky for Denver.

Is Boucher and a half season rental of Bruce B worth the nuggets last tradable pick? A first at that

Can't ignore they also dump 3.5 years of a player off their books.
