Even when the bench doesnt play great it's still important to play the. Our rotations and effort on the 2nd half and especially the 4th qtr was really good.

It's not all about injuries with the minutes. It's nearly impossible to play over 40 minutes and keep up the defensive intensity late in the game.

Would you look at that... Mikal and Hart got lots of rest in the first half and both played much better with much more energy in the 2nd half... who would have thought such a thing was possible?

Yup. Shamet is too small for the 3 though when he plays there. I would love to give Dadiet a shot. He actually somewhat impressed me with his defense early on in season. I just think the Knicks really need a wing with size and we just don't have that. It would round out the rotation.

Payne, Precious, Deuce and Shamet held the line. That's all one can ask. Keep letting them play. It's no coincidence that the team was in control in the 4th because guys had their minutes managed well. I think Precious can at least play 21 mins a night

I think Leon has to obtain a bench wing somehow. While a 3 guard line up can work, there will be times where it can hurt the team.

I think Tom needs to throw Dadiet into the water and give him a shot. Because I don't know where Leon is going to find another wing before the deadline that won't be costly.

That was some trash reffing, had Breen calling them out all game. Every challenge was overturned from both teams.

Also I like that fact that Thibs finally chose to punish Atlanta by force feeding the ball to whoever Trae young was guarding.
That call to pulverize him with Mikal over and over and over to start the 3rd was finally what I’ve been beating the drum for, these simple in game adjustments.

I’ll eat even more crow if this guy continues to trust the bench.

This was the best game Thibs has coached in a minute. Good rotation, great game plan to neutralize Trae while attacking him on offense. The Hawks should never beat this team.

Finding a wing with size and can shoot is nearly impossible to find in the trade market. I don't see many teams jumping at the chance to trade those guys either. So we gotta find some internal development.

Yeah I was hoping Trae would make a straight beeline to the locker room.

We gotta tie the series then roll the dice or do something disrespectful on their floor. Gotta have timing. Not front run like Trae.

Or just ignore them after the next win like they are beneath us...because honestly they are.

A lot of encouraging signs tonight. Thibs played 9 guys early and the difference in energy showed. We played at a much faster pace and were able to maintain said pace till the end of the 3rd. We scored 94 points in the first 3 quarters!

Going forward we should try to play faster as we have a ton of speed and great transition finishers on the roster. This will also yield more trail 3s for kat which he's deadly at. I think the number we need to aim for is 120ppg. Only 3 teams in the nba average more than 120 (Mem, Cle, Den). We have more talent than all 3 of those teams. https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/points-per-game

By playing faster, getting more paint touches and spacing better (looking at hart and og feel free to take 2 steps from the dunker to the corner instead of letting your man become a second defender on the ball handler) we can easily get to this number. We are averaging 117 a game while playing one of the slowest paces in the nba and with tired legs.

By making these small adjustments we can easily score 3 more ppg and outscore 27/30 teams on almost every single night. To put it in perspective Memphis won 108-106 vs Min tn and this game was essentially 16 pts below their season's average. When you run hard and score you put so much pressure on the opponent that they start making more mistakes and eventually run out of gas. 108 being one of your lowest scoring nights is insane (7 teams in the nba average under 109 ppg).

We proved we can play this pace every single time we play a fast team. Atl tn is a perfect example https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/advanced?dir=-1&sort=PACE. Atl is 3rd in pace and we are 25th in pace so essentially we played their style tn and they couldn't keep up and we nearly beat them by double digits. Our roster has some of the fastest players in the Nba. Most of these guy were also excellent in transition before joining the Knicks (not to mention nearly every player is better in transition).

I know this isn't normally Thibs' style but I truly believe this is our path to championship contention. Other teams just don't have the length, speed and ball handling we posses across 9 players. The goal should be 120ppg every night, try to get as many paint touches as possible and play 9-10 guys every night so we can effectively play fast and have the energy to switch more.

what assets though? We just basically held onto all our own 1st round picks, we didn't really accumulate a lot of valuable 1sts. The first 2 and MIL first are going to be in the 20's even if things don't go well. We can up basically no players for Mikal. How can anyone at this point have an issue with the KAT for Randle/Divo trade. That was highway robbery.

So the only issue is the Mikal deal?

And there is nothing in terms of sure fire contender. We have a better record than both MIL and DEN with Giannis and Joker.
