You make the call. What would you do? Trade deadline approacheth.
It has become apparent that Cade is the cornerstone;

So now it falls to Langdon to start making things happen, whether that be taking a cautious approach, making small moves, or begin pushing your chips in.
What would you do right now, before the trade deadline?

I think we have a strong lockerroom right now and this roster should be allowed to finish their season pretty much unchanged. Maybe just get a reliable ballhandler for at least the rest of the season.

I think it's pretty clear that we need a secondary ballhandler to take the pressure off Cade. Collin Sexton would be a good option, and is only on the hook for 19M next season. Fontecchio and a couple of seconds might work?
CJ McCollum also is a reasonable option but does affect our cap space/flexibility this off-season, particularly if we're wanting to re-sign Beasley.
I don't think we should be swinging for the fences just yet. If we convey our pick to Minnesota this year then we will have control of all of our future firsts and then can consider going star hunting if one becomes available.

I think it makes the most sense to trade one(or both) of Moore Jr or Font for a player with a salary we can absorb into our salary cap and is able to be a 6th man type rotation player for us... would also consider adding in the Raptors 2nd round pick as well.
That said, I could see it not making any sense to make a move, especially if Sasser continues to play for about 15 MPG backing up Cade.

Trading for Mccollum would give Detroit two big expirings to ship with multiple FRP's next TDL.

Only problem with going for CJ is we'd have to give up THJr.
As Absolutia said, these guys pretty much deserve to finish this out together. Tim's a part of that core 8 guys right now. (9with Ivey) sasser as of right now would be our other man.
Sexton to me is the dream, just not sure how excited Ainge is to deal him.
If Lonzo stays healthy maybe he would be our best bet. Could see him really fitting in with our guys.

Re: You make the call. What would you do? Trade deadline approacheth.
We do need a ball handling guard, and I agree Sexton or Ball would be the best two targets. Other than that, though, I wouldn’t do anything.
Reality: this is a .500 roster, a play in game or two roster. We could make a move to try to improve on that, but it’s just too early. Cade has made strides this year, and Ivey had made some, too. That’s great. I’d like to see additional run for Ausar AND Holland, even if it hurts a little. Any future contending run will depend on more internal development as well as a big trade, but we can do the first now without taking on any big salary or risk.
We can beat anyone and lose to anyone. That’s the sign of a young team with some talent. It’s ok to be what we are for now, and let Langdon make the bigger choices in the off-season.

Re: You make the call. What would you do? Trade deadline approacheth.
Honestly, I'd just play it out. Keeps the books and options clean for next season. We either level up internally way faster than we thought and we give up the draft pick this year while getting plenty of development for the current young guys or we fall short and have one more shot at the lottery in a great draft. It's possible I'm just not fully over this draft yet, though. But it seems like our best shot at getting another star to go with Cade is 1. Internal improvement 2. Lottery luck if we don't give up the pick this year 3. Trades involving multiple firsts that we can do if we do give up the pick this year.
Just letting things play out seems like the best course to have at least one of those three happen while also not messing up our chemistry or screwing up our financial flexibility.

Re: You make the call. What would you do? Trade deadline approacheth.
I would be happy enough if they did nothing.
The only moves I'd want to see are
A) absorb some bs salary for draft capital or
B) get a young pf with the potential to start in a year or two. I don't think any of those are actually available.
We could use another playmaker, but it's worth giving sasser and ausar those reps. See what they have and still compete for a play in spot. Lose, keep the pick, win the lottery, draft flagg and we're set.

Lonzo is my target and I think would be a longterm 6th man piece.

This is true. It may affect us being able to keep Beasley this off-season though if he gets offers beyond the MLE (which he may not of course, but shooting comes at a premium and he has hit the third most three pointers in the league this season while mostly coming off the bench).

When we win like we did against Houston it sure makes ya feel like standing pat is best.
It's gonna be so close either way in regards to us keeping our draft pick this year.
I agree the ideal situation is to sneak into the lottery and hope we can move up. That would be best case scenario for the future of our franchise.
Getting involved in a 3 team trade where we become the dumping ground in exchange for draft picks would be best for our team in the future.
The greedy fool that I am though wants to throw those 2 options right the **** out the window lol and deal Fontecchio and 2nds for Ball (or Brogdan or Russell-all expirings)and go for it. Try to get into the playoffs and make some noise. At least we would end up with over $30mil in cap space for next summer i guess.

If you get a true number two option that’s only on the books for maybe two more seasons, and you don’t have to move anyone in the rotation besides Hardaway, I think u got to do it no matter how good Hardaway has been, we need that guy before Ivey or Holland are going to become them, but two years from now I think we’d be good and one of those two will be ready

I think we should do a trade this year, but nothing substantial like a Lavine deal that ties up our cap for a few years. More like leverage our cap space and pick something up just to be a facilitator.

Ingram or Lavine would fit the bill, I think. I just think it's too soon for a move like that.

Re: You make the call. What would you do? Trade deadline approacheth.
I voted small move to round the team out- it would be foolish in my mind not to leverage the cap space while we have it to improve the team slightly this year. There are a few options- secondary ball handler, better 4, point of attack defender, etc. Even another bench piece would help. Ideally short term contracts. As much as we’ve improved there are still enough holes that a variety of additions could help us.
Push for the playoffs, convey a non lottery pick to get out from under that situation. I think we’re still far enough from contention that an all in move doesn’t really make sense yet. And it will be easier to do those moves in subsequent years anyway.

We have point of attack defenders (Ausar, Holland, Sasser, heck, Cade). They just need development

Small move -- ideally where we only lose Moore or Fontechio.
Target Dalano Banton as our ball handler to help Cade. Ride this out and see how far it gets us.

Meh. It always depends on the actual possibilities. This team doesn't have championship level talent unless some of those young guys just make a massive leap. So sure, if you can get a "robin" for cade, go for it. That's got to be an actual all-star level guy on roughly the same timeline though. Lavine isn't "robin".
If that isn't available, look to add another smaller piece to the talent base. Our cap space is going to have maximum value right now, so you've got to do something to turn that into a player or asset.
