If the Celtics don't repeat,
I am to the point that no
one of the team should be untouchable for Flagg.
Tatum for Flagg would be a very interesting option...
I just like the idea of retooling with the local New England guy....

That's just not happening.
Just because he's a New England guy that doesn't mean the Celtics will try to get him.
Tatum for Flagg is not just a pipe dream, it's a double pipe dream.

I'm not going to say you're wrong Fierce, but I'm a firm believer in really changing things up, if they can't repeat.

Looking at the box score, Miles Byrd stole the thunder from Nique Clifford in the matchup of the 6’6 small school, sleeper glue guys.
Clifford had 11 pts (1-8 3PT, 0-2 FT, 6 TOVs) in the loss for CSU. “Stock city” for Byrd, as you say

Yeah, I mean Miles Byrd definitely looks like a guy who could be a good fit here. Good possibly fit that role nicely of "2nd wing off the bench after Hauser..but possibly 1st wing off the bench if Hauser eventually gets traded).
Especially being a lefty..kind of looks like Scheirman out there except better defender and like 3 yrs younger than Scheierman was when drafted.
Byrd's stock seems to be going up quickly though so seems like a good chance he's gone before our pick..

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Everyone I get excited by, lol. But, in theory that means other guys are getting pushed down.

Yeah, you don’t wanna overreact to one game, but Miles clearly dominated the game, and Nique did not. I vacillate wildly on Nique. Miles is newish and shiny, but i still think I’m putting him ahead at this point.

Yeah I'd put Byrd over Clifford at this point as well..

This was from the early in the season but I like this write up of a whole bunch of sleeper types, many of which will be around when they draft.
https://www.noceilingsnba.com/p/the-no-stone-unturned-sleeper-cell
Fleming, Darrion Williams and many others get a nice little write up.

Hornets entering “Fury” style tank mode with Brandon Miller out for the foreseeable future with a torn ligament in his wrist. I’ll root for Charles Lee to get Flagg rather than Philly, even if it means getting the 32nd pick instead of the 31st pick from the Wiz.

Kinda like Sion James as a poor man’s Desmond Bane. Also local guy Matt Cross, maybe they can udfa him into a John Konchar type of guy.

I agree. He looks good but
Is he better than and have more upside than Walsh.
If he is the BPA I got no problem drafting him. I think we need bigs more than wings though. And after that we need Derrick White / Jrue clones.
Jordan Walsh > Lonnie Walker and Charles Bassey

I totally agree. Not that you draft around Walsh specifically, but we have him, Hauser, Baylor now and only 1 gets time. And we need a 4 and a 4th guard. I want a Fleming/Sorber and Traore/Richardson/? type draft. But I always get sucked in by wings. If they can handle and playmake a little then I can talk myself into them over the guards in this draft. NOt positive Byrd is that, but it’s really just learn the prospects time for me.
Edit: I also think you can play Byrd and Walsh together. I see Jordan more as a straight 3 / small 4 type wing, whereas Byrd is more 2/3 hybrid. Overlaps more with Baylor than Walsh or esp Hauser.

It’s a great question about who would replace one of those guys. In terms of what type of player. Question imo is do they look for more of a PG type or more of a two guard. My guess is they roll with White/PP as the ball handlers and get a guy that’s a bigger defensive two guard who can shoot and just take the loss of ball handling and passing in the chin (as opposed to getting another PG type) when one of White/Jrue falls off.
Eg a guy like that Sion James above. Not that it would be him, but someone in that Bane mold who can play D, shoot, be strong and have some size, that’s what will they will look for in lieu of another Jrue/White elite combo guard coming out of nowhere.

Jayden Quaintance at ASU looks like an interesting player. Someone who can be a starting big for a good team. I could be wrong but I don't believe he is eligible to be drafted this year though since he is only 17 years old.

Not from Boston's perspective but from the other team that has the top pick. Most of those teams are in rebuilding mode. Would any trade a potential "generational talent" who will still be a teenager for a "prime top 5 player, who will be 27ish and is sure thing but carries 330 million price tag with him. Flagg while extremely promising, may noy pan out or may take some years to get there. Teams are still waiting for the last "generational talent" - Zion, to pan out.
At this point would some, many or no one even consider that trade??
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Yeah, not eligible this year. Will likely be a top 10 (possibly top 5) pick in 2026..

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread, part 1 – Capture the Flagg
Halfway mark of the season and Washington is 6-35 worst record in the NBA and on pace to finish pick #31 which will become a Celtics pick.
Utah and Toronto are the 2nd/3rd worst teams, both have 10 wins.
Great trade by Brad, if second half holds the trend, we’ll get #31 which is practically another late first!!!

True about the cap. Compare cap figure for Baylor Scheierman, last pick in the first round:
YR 1: $2.5
YR 2: $2.6
YR 3: $2.7
YR 4: $5.0
Total : $12.8 million
To Jonny Furphy, 2nd round pick in the 30s:
YR 1: $1.9
YR 2: $2.0
YR 3: $2.3
YR 4: $2.5
Total: $8.7 million
