This kid will grow, gain weight improve his vision and he will dominate and this is all by eye test. If we don't get the No 1 pick hope he falls to 2 or 3 so we can grab him. I see a kid with a potential top 10 all time talent, only way this kid fails is if he's as lazy as Zion, and from the looks of it he has a good motor on his shoulders.

This draft other than flag for me it's tre or ace, I rather go big and bust than play it safe having come this far

OKC might take future picks, but it would cost more than just the Indy pick (another 1st on top at least). A guaranteed lotto pick in a good draft is worth a lot more than a pick from the Pacers who will be favoured to get a top 6 seed again next year

Harper also has elite potential.
And contrary to most, I'm VERY high on Maluach. I think he's gonna be a DPOY calibre player and will also be a stretch big.

I'm curious what you see in him that makes you say that.
He's a big center with fairly pedestrian block rate for that archetype. He's currently at 6.0 BLK% compared to Duke's other most recent big centers in that system in Mark Williams (9.6 BLK% his freshman year) and Dereck Lively (12.7 BLK%). But he also isn't switchable enough to be a Bam Adebayo-type of center.
Don't get me wrong, I think he'll be an above average defensive center. But there's a significant gap between that and DPOY calibre. I'm just wondering what you're seeing that I'm not.

Easily the best pure scorer in this draft. He's not gonna pass the ball but as long as he's 13/15 shooting...why bother? I kid...I kid. He can carry the scoring load and on this Raptors team that begs for guys that can make shots...I can't think of anyone better.
Is he a decent defender? How hard does he play when he doesn't have the ball on offence and defence? What happens when the double and triple teams come at him in the pros?
If Bailey is a Raptor...Scottie slides into a setup and support role that he will be elite at and he won't be looked upon to provide shot making along with all the other things he does so well. Bailey likes to shoot it and Barnes likes to pass it...match-made in heaven.
The fit of Bailey on the Raptors is perfect. Flagg obviously fits well also. I really wouldn't want to draft another guard since we are pretty guard-heavy right now so hoping it's one of Flagg or Bailey if we are 1 or 3 or 4.

I want size and don’t want another guard too
It’s Flagg, Ace and Maluach for me. I will take ace if we pick 2nd.

Those red flags still exist. It's like Kasp being consistently great, but he still has no lift in the paint.
From when they were both struggling:
RoteSchroder wrote:I also have Ace over Cooper, but it doesn't mean Ace can take on point-forward duties.
I don't think anyone has this opinion, but I'd be happier ending up with Ace over Cooper. Cooper is the better overall player with better IQ and you probably still take him #1, but I'm hoping for an elite perimeter shooter this draft. From those highlights, Ace still doesn't look like a guy you use on-ball a lot to initiate the offense. A lot of it is catch and drive/shoot, transition offense, dribble+side step/step back, etc.
My personal preference is Kasp over Dylan and Ace over Cooper, not that those two are better than their counterparts, but probably cause RJ and Scottie are so mediocre as perimeter threats (probably not a good idea to draft based on need though).

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Prospect Part 2
Let's assume the Raptors worst best-case scenario: They remain in the Top 4 but are relegated to the 4th pick meaning they are sure to miss out on Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper. The 3rd best player is still up for debate between Ace Bailey and Kasparas Jakucionis but let's say for the sake of this exercise that Ace Bailey is 3rd on the Raptors draft board/1st for where they expect to draft.
This could very well be the last draft Masai and co. are around for given Ujiri's contract is set to expire in 2026 so nailing this pick is integral for the team's future. As such, it is not out of the realm of possibility that the Raptors attempt to trade up in the draft like they did in 2021 to acquire Evan Mobley. Biggest difference is there's a greater incentive to nail this one in order to get the rebuild back on target given how late it started vs. where the team was in 2021 i.e. still having Siakam, O.G., etc.
It's always easier said than done to trade up/down in the draft but if the Raptors were to put together a package to move up a spot or two, what is the most you would be comfortable with the Toronto Raptors give up to move to 3rd?
To 2nd?
This should go without saying but this hypothetical is operating under the assumption the 4th overall pick is being traded along with whichever option one is selecting below.

Lots of armchair scouts in here look foolish when they make premature judgements to a player with a skillset like Baileys......Especially the harsh criticism when many of the other players in this class had bad games...
Also the passing things been a big issue for everyone need to look at his team....He is legit being asked to score majority of the points for his team, And also his team mates are trash besides Harper.....He will improve in the NBA...Hes also 6"10.....Besides Ben Simmons and Jokic has their been a 6"10 player who is an elite passer?....Its rare you see a guy that size being a play maker...
We don't need a playmaker what we need is a shot maker and a bucket getter....Bailey is prolly one of the better looking ones i seen in college basketball in a long time...

The Sabonises? Sabonisi? Whatever the plural is for Sabonis but them and Bill Walton come to mind for big men who excel at passing. None of them are at Jokic's level and it's overall not that common but they're still excellent in their own right.
It's a fair criticism to say Bailey's court vision and decisionmaking with the ball in his hand needs work, namely with some of the riskier passes he tries to make (emphasis on tries) that's resulting in him turning the ball over more than he's assisting.
Doesn't mean it's so critical flaw you write him off but it is something that should be monitored as the season goes on.

Love people declaring that Bailey is already a great NBA player and taking victory laps on people who had him lower earlier.
I don't know if he will bust or be really good, but I still think he has a very high chance of being a bust as his stat comparisons are very similar to Michael Beasley and Marvin Bagley. Those two were excellent college players throughout the whole season as well.

Lots of people noted real facts. It was only the last 5 games or so where Ace looked like a top 3 pick. There rest of the time he looked like a guy with bad decision making process and not aggressive enough. Most people also still noted he has crazy shot making skills.
Now that he putting it all together in consistent games it is clear that his crazy upside is real and not just high school hype like so many kids get. His downside is still real but oh man if he develops he could be special.
This draft is starting to get really exciting.
Flagg. Looking like the best number 1 pick in the last 10 years outside of Victor. (Skinny Zion probably higher)
Ace Bailey. A durant kinda player
Harper. A cross of Harden and Coby White? (nbadraftroom comps) Looks like a 26 6 and 6 kinda guy with neutral to ok defense...
That is three superstar potential players.
Yak. One of the highest floors in the draft? Great size and shooting for a pg.
Getting a top 4 pick this year would be such a game charger.
We the North

Let’s pump the brakes on Ace being a Kevin Durant type of player. That’s wild. As of today I’m putting him in that MPJ, Tim Thomas category. Drool worthy talent, but he needs to show a lot more than just scoring.

Not Tim Thomas. Rashard Lewis, MPJr.
