Putting hyper athletic defenders 2-5 in the starting lineup, which also juiced their bench w/ Hunter & Bogdanovic, saved them from burning it all down

I’m surprised they’re not 4th in the standings

This is their starting line-ups shooting % from 3 this season:

Trae Young - 34.4%
Jalen Johnson - 32.6%
Dyson Daniels - 31.7%
Zaccharie Risacher - 28.1%
Clint Capela - 0.0%

I think in all of those wins they shot out of their minds from 3. But that's definitely not the norm.

We can't say with certainty how future injuries will be affected by playing more guys of the bench, but we can say that our starters had a lot more energy for defense in the 3rd and 4th quarters. I liked it.

Clyde was discussing minutes near the end of the game. He said he played over 40 minutes a game and it never bothered him. He is just an amazing physical specimen, though, and maybe not everybody else is built to withstand such huge minutes the way he is.

Let's hope Thibs believes his eyes, and the numbers, and the videos, and plays the bench guys throughout the game starting in the 1st quarter, so the starters have energy to close out the game. If not, I hear the ghost of Tony Soprano may try to talk some sense into him.

Agree with that, at the very least he's not a liability during switch.

he played a lot of 4 last year...so I think he's way more comfortable on the perimeter than guarding in drop coverage. Play to your players strengths.

I was hopeful Thibs learned something and went 9 deep today. He even tried the bench 4 with different starters, Hart m, KAT, and OG. I was hopeful he was experimenting some. Didn’t watch the second half but the 59 minutes bench total is still below even our season average. It is ridiculous no matter what the outcome is.

Biggest issue for the bench right now is size. Hunter started cooking when Thibs went to the bench in the second half because of the 3 guard lineup with McBride, Payne, and Shamet. That's the main reason OG played 41 mins, especially with everyone else's foul trouble.

I'd like to see Thibs sub in McBridge for Bridges earlier in games and then have Bridges play more with Payne and Shamet.

KAT is an offensive 5 and defensive 4. The switching problem is Brunson mostly. You don't want him swotching. He'll get hunted.

just finished watching. this was one of the WORST officiated games I've ever had the displeasure of watching. seriously I would love to know who the hell was out there tonight and what was the average experience of these refs. they were pure garbage. I know refs love to screw our players over but this game was embarrassingly bad.

I don't know how anyone could watch this game front to back and not realize how bad these refs were

Otherwise it was nice to see some defensive effort here and there. Mikal played Trae well after that first blunder on the first play of the game.

Clyde was playing 40 mins a game and it was mostly north and south cardio lets be real. They didn't have intricate cuts, herky-jerky moves, all these hesi's, crossovers, fast twitch moves trying to shake off swarms of freak athlete defenders. Far less movement on offense and defense.

Nobody on the team would have a problem playing 40 mins a game in the damn 1970s

A lot of the good posters aren't posting much anymore cause the trolls have ruined this board lately. 90% of the posts are green arrow posting tweets from content creators nobody has even heard of or Bluntson/Iron Mantis/Nodope/mpharris/buzzard/others complaining about minutes or wanting Thibs fired.

This is a 28-16 team right now and you'd think we are 16-28.

The Knicks and Rockets are tied for 5th best points margin at +6.0 --- I think Mitch in this regard would make at least a 2-3 point difference which would put us right on par with Boston and Cleveland.

OKC if healthy should be considered heavy favorites to win the title by now. Keep in mind they haven't yet played games with Chet and Hartenstein both healthy in the line-up! That length, shotblocking and rim protection along with their perimeter defense and length on the perimeter makes them a super tough matchup.

SGA will win the MVP race, no matter what Jokic is putting together. When both are producing at absolute elite levels you have to look at the team around....and honestly...one can't say that in terms of talent OKC is significantly more talented and yet they would likely completely dominate Denver in a playoff series.

SGA should of course win it, but that is because of their winning ways. When it comes to how talented the teams are, the drop-off from Jokic to the rest is ridiculous. They are absolutely terrible

Yeah the pace of the game and the amount of space you have to cover is night and day. They weren't running the ball up and down jacking up up 3's. Most guys weren't shooting and spacing the floor in that era.

The amount of rotations and speed of the game requires so much more energy output.

First game back at the Garden since he did the dice roll....The Knicks forced Young into a ton of turnovers and had EVERYONE HE DEFENDED attack. Mikal torched him; Cam came in and shot right in his grill; Deuce came in and went at him (couldn't buy a three though); and the handful of times Brunson got that switch, he attacked it too.

They took the high road in terms of speaking to the press, but the Knicks just went at Young's neck and responded in a way I can really appreciate.
