I find it funny that they didn't even show up in the rankings for best farm system, yet they also voted the Brewers have the most underrated farm system? How does that work?

I know right, the article hints at that too. "It’s a little surprising that Detroit got votes for best overall system but the Brewers did not."

For reference:
Best Farm: Tigers 3rd, Brewers Unranked
Most Underrated Farm: Brewers 1st, Tigers 2nd

Colin Rea to the Cubs, 1 year 5 mil
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

I'll be curious to see how it goes for him this year. I know he ended the year poorly but I was surprised the Brewers didn't keep him around $5.5 million.

What i find interesting about this signing is every team had a chance to claim him off waivers for $4.5 million and they all passed but then thr Cubs sign him for $5 million. Seems like the market was misjudged

I hate baseball. Dodgers might as well get every Japanese star for the rest of time.

It must be easy being the MLB insider. You only really ever have to worry about a handful of teams making moves. Probably easier to keep track of the same 6 teams or so that cannibalize the rest of the league.

There's been talk of an International Draft for years. This might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

It's not even just a normal angry small market fan reaction. Really. It's legitimately unfun, and I don't have hope of it getting better, either. The players have no icentive to want it changed because they can go wherever they want, with fully guaranteed contracts, and someone (the Dodgers) will pay them. Meanwhile, the owners have no incentive to want it changed because they make money from revenue sharing, and the few owners/teams/markets that truly want to make big splashes can with absolutely nothing to stop them.

Which is worse: college football or MLB baseball?

I think change only comes if the owners truely value winning over money.

If they just want to watch the game and make money, there will be no change. What the Dodgers, Mets, Yankees, etc are doing should make 3/4 of the league owners mad.

Attanasio isn't going to make waves. He'll take his annual handout from the league, grind out an annual profit and cash in when he sells. Life is good.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Is there an infinite supply of good players?

If everybody spends all of their money and the billionaires start spending into their personal worth to outspend the Yankees, does it guarantee victory? Can you guarantee Pete Alonso doesn't hit a homer and knock you out of a short playoff series if you spend another $10 million?

Does Kansas City have the same revenue stream + marketing opportunity to sign star players - specifically Asian stars as, for example, Los Angeles?

I think part of it is that the league is breaking away (somewhat) from most of revenue being tied to local TV contracts. However, the Dodgers had a sweetheart TV contract that dwarfed everybody else's and it's still going for another decade.

So they have owners that are 10x richer than Attanasio for example, 10x more money coming in from TV than Attanasio, and a market that can make money 10-fold vs. other teams if you have somebody like Ohtani on your roster.
