Putting hyper athletic defenders 2-5 in the starting lineup, which also juiced their bench w/ Hunter & Bogdanovic, saved them from burning it all down

I’m surprised they’re not 4th in the standings

This is their starting line-ups shooting % from 3 this season:

Trae Young - 34.4%
Jalen Johnson - 32.6%
Dyson Daniels - 31.7%
Zaccharie Risacher - 28.1%
Clint Capela - 0.0%

I think in all of those wins they shot out of their minds from 3. But that's definitely not the norm.

Our 3 pt defense is 27th in the league. Not acceptable coaching considering the perimeter defenders we have.

I hope this is the beginning of a trend and not some random aberration. It still wasnt quite a liberal enough rotation either with 4 of the 5 starters still getting 37 minutes plus.

Hopefully it will improve.

Mikal did get into foul trouble. He's not going to play 27 minutes typically. You get him to 36 and take away about 10 mins from OG and and someone else it was much more balanced it showed late in the game.

Yay?

We are a bit mediocre right now. Not at all in the running for a chip and our roster is not very upgradable.
Our upside is limited due to rotations, injured Mitch, our defense, Thibs lack of creativity, etc.

Mitch can turn things around imo but his health is a huge problem.
But many here depend on sports, so they will buy the company line.

Hopefully yea. This Thibs rotation pushing the starters like he has clearly has had big side effects. Between injury and fatigue.

I think he saying over the course of a season or into the playoffs...not that we have been hit with the injury bug right now.

That's projection though. There's no actual evidence of that (yet) this season.

Thats typically sports science though. Fatigue generally leads to more injuries...obviously for example fatigue has nothing to do with KAT's injury. There is a luck component.

But fatigue and injuries are typically correlated.

Every team we play has at least 3-6 injured players. Not sure why only our team's injuries are all coach related.

Thibs didn't learn a thing this game. Poor officiating put many Knicks in foul trouble, so Thibs was forced to play the bench more than usual.

Expect the similar 8 man rotations with the starters averaging nearly 40 mpg.

That's true in a general sense, but not in a specific sense. Everyone has a different threshold and the body adapts to the demands put on it as long as there is adequate recovery. That is why there is no magic number of minutes that prevents injury.

I'm just noting that the Knicks have been one of the healthiest teams in the league so far this season

Because apparently only we play guys 36-37 minutes, no other player is in that range, and apparently no other teams have injuries. Everyone blaming Thibs because of rose and it's nonsense. I'm thankful for Thibs and the stability he's bought, would be nice to play guys on bench more though

Agreed, but you have to admit though still a smallish sample size

j4remi wrote:First game back at the Garden since he did the dice roll....The Knicks forced Young into a ton of turnovers and had EVERYONE HE DEFENDED attack. Mikal torched him; Cam came in and shot right in his grill; Deuce came in and went at him (couldn't buy a three though); and the handful of times Brunson got that switch, he attacked it too.

They took the high road in terms of speaking to the press, but the Knicks just went at Young's neck and responded in a way I can really appreciate.

I love it Rem...and I need that when we go to MSG Atlanta

Also noticed how many times towns tried to take shots with his left in the paint. That right hand is hurting. We won’t be seeing any aggressive drives and finishes like the first 3rd of the season til he recovers.

Apparently the NBA has decided there won't be many fouls on layups.

KAT does get hacked way more then the avg driver and doesn't get nearly the calls.

He does tend to complain a lot even when there isn't a foul which probably doesn't help. But could you imagine him with Embiid's whistle?

Other teams can't do it because they've been too injured

I think the 4th qtr struggles could also be fatigue related, but I don't have an answer for the 1st quarter or 3rd quarter struggles
