Vote Mobley

Nominate Embiid

Edwards has a lot the hype but not convinced NBA GMs really value him more than foundational big man piece in Mobley.

This is where the voting starts to get interesting, IMO.

Vote: Ant.

I have Ant at 7. Of the remaining players, I think he has the best chance to become an MVP over the life of his contract. He is only on the fun-max, and he didn’t even take the normal player option on the final year. His athleticism is otherworldly, but the thing that separates himself for me is his willingness to listen to anyone to be better, whether that’s Rubio, Mike Conley, watching old Tim Duncan videos on post moves, or learning the slow step from Luka Garza. Off the court, he also is one of the most marketable players in the NBA, with movies, merch, Olympics. You could start (or save) a franchise with the kid.

Nomenclature: Jo L M Beed. I thought about KAT here too, and both could end up on both lists, if they are healthy during the first vote, and get injured before the Worst Cntracts vote. While I dislike Embiid personally and think he is more of an injury risk, I think he has shown top 3 production, so I picked him over Towns.

Vote: ANT
Nominate: Franz (Michigan homer not withstanding)

I'm late to the party but can't figure Jokic (who will be 30 next month) over SGA (who may be better right now)
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Sometimes I think about the fact that we were a couple ping pong balls away from a Steph-Ant dynasty phase two...

Vote: Edwards

I'm personally not that high on him, I think he's more flash than substance. But I expect that league-wide he's got the most value at this point.

I appreciate you laying this out. I agree with gswhoops this is where it gets interesting as the top 6 were pretty predictable.

I’d love to see a little advocacy for the options here. I’m pretty persuadable at this stage, and think others should be open as well.

Paolo
Haliburton

Lots of viable options here. I went with Paolo > Ant.b/c I think Ant's production is a bit overrated right now and Paolo is still on a rookie contract.
