Might as well... I'll be honest, I still keep tabs on the team but just don't have the time to post much anymore.

Hopefully the aftermath of this season brings more excitement to the franchise...

When I went on the OKC board last night I noticed they have one game thread for all their games. I think they have theirs as a sticky.

I think its a good idea for this season, hopefully we can get back to playing to win and our board will be back to its old self.

I have some general thoughts on this team and I might as well write it here.

I can honestly say that this 2024-2025 Nets team is the team I have cared about the least in my 25 years following this team. There is maybe one player I'm actually interested in watching (Cam T) and even if he is trade I wouldn't care that much.

On one hand, it is exciting having our own lottery pick for the first time in 15 years. Not having to root hopelessly for your team in meaningless games just so that the owner of our teams pick doesn't get a high pick is a relief.

On the other hand since it's the most beneficial to lose every game, the roster kind of become irrelevant. I find it near impossible to find an incentive to watch games or even care about the players on the team knowing that most will be gone in 2 years.

This season has a few positives:

-Cam Johnson improved his stock tremendously and has developed nicely to the point where I wouldn't mind keeping him.
-Jordi Fernandez can coach. Started the season great and rapidly helped us avoid having an all time bad season like 2010.
-Clowney can shoot apparently. Nice surprise.

The disappointing:

-Nic Claxton has peaked apparently.
-Young players/projects haven't really developed. Keon Johnson is really bad. Jalen Wilson hasn't really progressed and is already 25. Tyrese Martin is meh. Dariq Whitehead can't even see time on the court which is insane. Day'Ron Sharpe is an afterthought.
-Looks like we'll have 3 picks in the 20's. Had some hope the Bucks would implode but doesn't seem likely now. And why is Houston so good????

This season needs to end.

hopefully they can get up 1 or 2 spots in the lotto odds, then the season ends.

agree that it's basically impossible to care to watch the games, but it is what it is. it's a really strong draft. very easy to see how things could possibly turn in a good direction with guys like flagg, harper, or bailey. plus the cap room and extra supply of picks.

unfortunately this year is all about that draft lotto so it's hard to focus on anything else, unless they somehow get a really good return on CamJ, which seems possible.

yea it's been hard to watch and care about games when we're getting smoked by 40 points alot and the roster is full of g leaguers. But there is hope, at least we have our own pick. Those seasons where we were terrible and had to cough up top picks to Boston we're unbearable. And that season where we went 12-70 and STILL didn't get the top pick was annoying af.

Anyway, lets just keep tanking it and get into the top4, we should be focusing on college games and the draft now tbh. Flagg seems to be head and shoulders the top pick but in my opinion I don't see him being the best player in the draft in the prime years. I really like Ace Bailey even though he has holes in his game, but holes that can be fixed. Harper is another good one. But we need to look into the late 1st round draft picks since we'll have 3 of them. I keep saying it but I trust Marks drafting skiils

So oddly enough to start the year I really enjoyed watching this team. They mostly play hard and give their all, with all the injuries it's been tough though, as it moves the possibility of winning a game from like 20%-30% to 0.5%...

On the bright side the Nets are gaining ground on some fellow tankers right now.

this is why they traded Schroeder so quickly. 1 month later and top 3 odds are very much within reach.

yes the basketball is mostly garbage, but a top 3 pick in this year's draft is probably worth coming out on the wrong side of games like yesterday's.

I can see Charlotte and New Orleans passing us. NO got Zion back and should help win some games and Charlotte should win some with their center coming back and beasting along with Lamelo. We're definitely not catching up to the wizards and utah seems to be trying to out tank everybody. There's a chance for Toronto tho

Think we’re going to win tomorrow, going to throw a small wager on the money line.

I also think that Marks' saw the writing on the wall in regards to Schroeder and DFSs value, I'm surprised both have struggled to the extent they have with their new squads but the return on them looks better with each brick they lay.

Being the first mover in this market was smart.

If Cam Johnson gets traded this tank could hit warp speed...

yeah im pretty sure we are going to be seeing an unholy amount of load management / sore whatevers the rest of the season. It is clear they have throttled down and taken dead aim at a top 4 lotto slot. Even pre-trades/buyouts half of the minutes most nights is D-Leaguers.

The Pels have too many good players, i'm not sure they can load manage everyone and not win more games than nets. CJ, Ingram, Zion, Murray, Murphy, Jones etc. Toronto too with Scottie, RJ, IQ, Dick, Poeltl, etc.

With Miller out Charlotte could be tough to catch. Utah could go either way, but you would think Markanen/Sexton/George/Collins/Clarkson are more scoring than this roster has even when healthy.

Buyouts are the key thing, if the Nets decide to use them on their expiring guys that takes 2 more starters off the roster. Most of the players above on the other bad teams aren't buy out guys. So landing at 3 or 4 seems possible now thanks to their early deals and aggressive benchings even if they decide to keep CamJ (which I would if they don't get a really good unprotected FRP in 2026 or a really good recent FRP they like on rookie deal).

just 2 days later they are already that much closer to #3. Heck only 1 fewer loss than Utah at #2.

And to add to that - Portland and Charlotte play each other today. Probably want to root for Charlotte.

We should lose to Heat tomorrow, then Pels play Hornets saturday too. So in a few days Nets should be closer to someone since 1 of the teams ahead of them in lotto is going to win at least 1 game, maybe 2.
