Thunder does it for salary dump, where Caruso seems mike a bad signing for them (Caruso’s contract will bloat to 19M next season) and the trade also assures the Thunder that Sixers pick will convey.

That’s too high of a price for Caruso.

So you mean it’s good value for the Thunders?

Caruso could provide us a back-up plan in case Oubre decides to sign elsewhere.

Yes, that's very good value for OKC. But I'm pretty sure technically that since they just extended Caruso they cannot trade him until the offseason.

Oh, that makes sense.

Who are potential takers for Paul George? Warriors, Nuggets, Grizzlies?

Morey isn't going to listen on offers for George since we are only doing a one year tank. He will just shut him down and spin him back up next season.

I imagine most of the teams connected to Jimmy would also be interested in him. In fact, he's probably a better fit in a lot of those spots with an established way that they like to play

Any PG trade would need PG to facilitate it and probably publicly. It's such a remarkably bad look moving forward in FA to sign him and then not even make it a full year before trading him.

Suns aren't going to have enough to get Jimmy Butler. But I could see them trading for Paul George and Bradley Beal might want to play with Embiid.

Play Embiid and Beal as few games as possible, collect 2 or 3 1sts, half heartedly compete in 25-26, and trade one or both when you have the opportunity.

We'd get off the George deal one year sooner and increase our flexibility to combine all our picks for a star player.

We must completely embrace the tank this year.

Trade Kelly, Yabu, and George. Shut Maxey down at the slightest sign of an injury. They have to find a way to get to the top 4 in the lottery standings. I think it's possible if they completely embrace the tank.

I agree. But he would definitely be happy to get the hell out of here to go to a place like Memphis, Golden State, or Phoenix.

GSW is the only answer tbh. Beal does nothing since Maxey is already better than him and McCain will be shortly. GSW is also a team that will value older stars and willing to pay to have Steph and Green happy (not sure if they’re friends or not). PG would also be on board for California.

Yep, this is it.

OKC gets Yabusele, KJM, 26 1st returned, 28 LAC 1st
PHI gets Dieng, Topic, and 25 1st returned

I assume that Morey will run it back next year after the mini tank, even though it should be time to move PG and Embiid. But that’s another conversation for later. Right now, they need to tank hard and get their pick back.

OKC and Sixers can't increase the protection on this year's pick, sadly. Has something to do with the 1st we gave to Brooklyn.

Don't need to increase protection. Just get the whole pick back.

I do it without the pick just to get off Drummond's final year.

I'm doing anything to get back into this stupid draft.

Yabu for a late 1st! Agree we need to get into this draft.

2 straight victories? We back!

Kyle Anderson hasn't played much for the Warriors. He'd check some boxes here as he's both taller than 6'6" and also a distributor. I think Nurse would love his length (pause..) defensively, and wouldn't be shocked to see him playing point-center here if acquired.

KJ Martin (and a required filler) for Kyle Anderson?

I could potentially see KJ being more useful there. Or just being a better trade chip for them matching salaries in a 3-way.

After Harden single-handedly beat the Bucks last night, would it had been better if Morey had given Harden the MAX contract he promised him instead of PG a year later?

PG for Harden following the Sixers firing Morey for lying to him.

Thoughts or do we still have an issue with him being fat?!?

We'd be a better regular season team with Harden for sure. He can legitimately carry lineups in a way that PG can't as a creator. But it's fool's gold when things matter.

You could be critical of PGs playoff performances as well, or point to those 2 unexpected games where Harden straight up carries them over the Celtics. But he absolutely cratered them in their biggest games, and it's something he's done fairly consistently throughout his career. He's a heliocentric star that goes through stretches where he just doesn't even want the ball in his hands in big moments. And when you rely on it all year you can't recover when he doesn't show up.

Same has been true of Embiid to an extent, but it's just more magnified with Harden, particularly when you factor in the other end of the floor.
