Hawks/Rockets/Wiz big men
Hawks trade: Capela
Hawks get: Valuaciunas/Landale
Rockets trade: Adams/Landale/27 MEM 2nd/31 HOU 2nd
Rockets get: Capela
Wizards trade: JV
Wizards get: Adams/27 MEM 2nd/31 HOU 2nd
Hawks have entered the OO era, and with Capela/Nance both free agents, nice to tie up an affordable backup center for next year.
Rockets bring back an old friend as an ungrade at backup center for this year.
Wizards get 2 2nds for JV, which was probably what they signed him for to begin with.
Note: if Houston prefers they could cut out Atlanta, but I think Capela makes more sense and they would prefer the flexibility next year while the Hawks would prefer locking in a backup center.

Re: Hawks/Rockets/Wiz big men
I think this makes sense for all three teams overall.
Think Houston is getting the upgrade pretty cheap, but maybe that’s all Capela is worth? The market for centers is pretty bad but he’s a good one..
I’m not too sure how much Capela makes this offseason, or how much more than Jonas he has to make for Atlanta to do this instead of banking on keeping him if they are still happy with him and he’s happy in a smaller role moving forward. Maybe it’s not worth a risk though and take the decent backup center who is locked up?
As a Dallas fan, I’d like to ask what Atlanta would offer for Dallas to be the third team and not Washington.. But not sure that’s a good spin.

Gafford is a decent candidate for the Hawks under contract center as well. I did consider him but went with JV since he's cheaper and I think Dallas would ask for more back for Gafford than Washington would for JV.
I even tried a version where Dallas kept Capela and flipped Kleber for Tucker(yes that old tired deal) to go back to Atlanta.

Yeah, I think Jonas is a safer/lower floor and feels underpaid for what he does in a limited role. He’s not a good starter, but seems to accept that and does what he does well..
And Dallas shouldn’t be trading for a stack of 2nds like the idea would flesh out to be. Just a random ba bad spin.

Re: Hawks/Rockets/Wiz big men
Would rather send JeffGreen and one of Tate/Holiday to Washington instead of Adams.
Adams/Capela would provide a lot of options for playoff defense. Plus more fouls. Plus, in case of injury.
Eason and Amen (along with Jabari have rendered JeffGreen useless for us. Tate and Holiday have been getting minutes but either can be spared.

yeah match the money however you want. WAshington should only care that the contract is ending.

Re: Hawks/Rockets/Wiz big men
Adams has been awesome for awhile now so I'm not sure it's really worth using stuff to upgrade there even if the value is good, don't want to run low one seconds to spend elsewhere like depth shooting or guards

At the draft, I could see the Rockets using the 2025 first to “refill” seconds going forward.
If in the 12-16 range, would probably be a guy that would go to g league for minutes. Brooklyn, Washington, etc (teams loaded with seconds) might deal.
Ex. Bkn sends Dallas seconds (2029&30), #25 & #27 for #14. Then turn those late firsts into more future seconds.
Not usually the best idea to deal quality for quantity but would provide flexibility.

Re: Hawks/Rockets/Wiz big men
Not a bad framework. Could even possibly cut out Houston.
Was sends Valunciunas, Johnny Davis for Capela
ATL sends Capela and a couple 2nds (maybe 25 and 27) for Valunciunas
ATL gets a productive backup w 2 more yrs on a cheaper deal than Capela.
WAS gets a few late picks, and a more defensive minded veteran center to mentor Sarr, and can resign him to a Valunciunas type deal this offseason.

We'd rather keep JV if a 1st isn't coming back our way. While we're tanking, we see JV as a good role model for our young bigs. And we have way more than enough 2nds.

Yeah this would be making a change for the sake of making a change. We have absolutely no need to trade Adams this season. I like Capela, and I like the idea of Capela back in Houston but for now, I'd rather stay put and do nothing at the deadline.

Adams not a role model? If Val had first round value, he would of found a better contract in FA
