It sounds like the Jags are leaning Liam Coen or Joe Brady.
I don't hate either of those guys, I think Coen is being overshadowed by Johnson in that he's done similar things with less talent on the roster, but it's just ridiculous that we're not doing a clean sweep after the season we had.

Coen from the Shanahan/McVay tree right? When in doubt that's a good way to go.

Not sure what my quote has to do with Brian Schottenheimer.

Is Jerry actually considering him? That would be wild.

That guy would be nothing without his name. He has never run a good offense.

Russ actually had his best years (2018-2020) with Schotty as his OC. When they had a consistent top 10 offense.
The biggest mark on his resume is likely the 2018 Wildcard game against Dallas. In which they ran the ball at an insane rate when the Cowboys had a very good Run D that season. It was one of the worst called games that I can ever recall. He got a lot of hate from fans from that game alone.
The 2020 collapse by the team was also a big reason for why he was ultimately let go. Plus, Russ & him had a falling out. Carroll basically fired him to appease Russ.
His scheme is simplified. Very little creativity. Which worked. But there's obviously a ceiling with him.

Re: Coaches thread
Should Jags be hiring a defensive or offensive coach?
Lawrence is their key player. Does he need more development from a good offensive coach?
Pedersen was suppose to be that but didn't work out.
First thing is get Baalke out of the building.

The goal should be to hire the best coach available. Regardless if it's an offensive or defensive coach.
Having said that most of the defensive coaches this cycle don't really intrigue me.
Carroll is more of a culture builder & CEO type than defensive coach at his age.

Re: Coaches thread
Looking more and more like it's gonna be Liam Coen for the Jags
I'm kinda iffy on him, like it's a gamble. He's young and doesn't have a ton of experience, but that's the McVay tree for you. KOC is the same age as him, and he's been coach for 3 years
The bigger issue is this is who Baalke wants. I legitimately cannot understand why that dude is still in the building let alone calling the shots.

BaF Lakers:
Nikola Topic/Kasparas Jakucionis
VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela
Bench: Malcolm Brogdon/Hansen Yang/Rocco Zikarsky/RJ Luis Jr.

Re: Coaches thread
McCarthy & Carroll might be the two best remaining candidates available believe it or not.
Fwiw, I think I would take McCarthy over Carroll due to age.

Apparently it was Robert Saleh, but he's likely going to SF to be DC there
So Joe Brady

Is McCarthy not even an option? Baalke might be a roadblock for him as well.

Re: Coaches thread
Just have Baalke coach the team. No coach with options wants to work with him.

Well he fits Jerry’s criteria to a T!
First he has ties to the organization, second he’s familiar with the current system and works well with Dak. And third, no one else in the right mind would want to hire the guy as their HC, which allows Jerry to have total control over him.
