the Mavs sell? make offers...
Lively is injured with a broken foot and will be out for 2 to 3 months, Luka is still injured with no return date and (in no way should they rush) KI has back problems and needs rest...those are the 3 most important players of the team!!!! with health problems and 3 games from 11th place...
Luka is untouchable,I guess KI too...and Lively/PJ close to it, just if it were obvious
Gafford/Grimes/Hardy/Marshall/Klay...make your offers!!

Re: the Mavs sell? make offers...
I'd be interested in Gafford for GS but not sure we have the right pieces to make an offer (and before you ask, no interest in a Klay reunion)

What are you looking to do here, turn some of these rotation guys into draft capital? To consolidate them?

Re: the Mavs sell? make offers...
I highly doubt the Mavs actually consider selling. But In a world where they do-
Id be interested in Huerter + 1st for PJ Washington
Huerter + Len + some sort of pick for Naji + Gafford

PJ isn't available, 24 y/o and local Dallas guy + great fit...
Unless it's a lightly protected 1st on the 2nd deal then there isn't much in Sac package, both Gafford and Naji are positive value, and Huerter is negative.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Klay doesn't have that type of value. They'd be lucky if the Clippers did that swap without the picks.
I'd be interested in something around Grimes and filler for Merrill, or LeVert, or Okoro.

Re: the Mavs sell? make offers...
Dallas is very unlikely to sell and once you take out the guys the OP did, there is nothing really worth selling unless someone really wants Gafford.
I want to be clear that I am not trying to kill the thread. Others may disagree with me. Just offering my opinion as a Mavs fan. I don't see the team selling nor do I think the returns would be enough to justify weakening a team that if they get into the playoffs still has a proven killer in Luka. They can win series they "shouldn't". They've knocked off the top seed in the conference the last two years they were in the playoffs.

Re: the Mavs sell? make offers...
Gafford is the only guy they can really sell and expect to be replaceable next season with the MLE. But they only do that if the season is totally lost which as of right now I expect them to still be in the play-ins with the current injury projections and want to keep Gaff. Grimes could be sold if Dallas doesn't expect to meet his next contract. Likely just some 2nds. At best you likely can knock some money off of the Klay deal but not much in the way of assets on top.

If I ran the Mavs, I wouldn’t look to sell. More like see if I can slightly improve the roster with some minor changes and/or shed Powells contract to dip below the tax line. But with the injury to Lively, that feels like a bad idea.

Once you take off the top 4, there’s not much meat left? Don’t even think it adds up to two real firsts to Dallas and you have ruined next years team to do it..
I don’t understand shopping Marshall, he is doing everything you could want for a bench wing making as little as he makes? Unless it’s necessary for matching a bigger contract, he seems like he’s not worth enough to justify losing?
I could see the team moving on from Grimes as they might not be willing to pay him this summer.. but are you taking a stack of 2nds? Are you trying to find a team that would trade a first for him and the Philly 2nd? I don’t see who that is..
Gafford should have a small market. But the center market is flooded this season and the OP just said the starting center is out for a couple months..

Re: the Mavs sell? make offers...
If in 10 days the team is tied for 10th (realistic) then Powell+Exum+Philly 2nd+cash to anyone. And you sign a rest of season contract and stay under the tax. If the team has decided against paying Grimes next season, you trade Grimes+Morris+cash for a couple 2nds and get under the tax
If the team decides they want to tank, they don’t need to trade their limited depth. They just need to extend Luka’s injury and have Kyrie miss 20 games. Without Luka, they don’t make the play-in, without Lively, Kyrie and Luka they can try and win and still push Washington for the worst record from now to the end of season.

This is the interesting name for me. We know the team tried to extend him when they did Hardy and he wouldn't bite. So there was a meaningful enough gap in the money that kept a deal from getting done. I don't think Grimes has done anything where he and his agent are going to come down, has he shown enough to Dallas to come up? Or will the lack of cap space cap him and Dallas can just match a reasonable offer.
I go back and forth. I can see Grimes being a starter here for the next handful of years. Or continue to be a key bench piece. I could also see them thinking we can replace him on the cheap and not wanting to do Josh Green 2.0 of paying a good, but not great youngish guard. If its the latter they should trade him for what they can get now.
But again, I'm holding. And paying him. If the Vegas guys will spend. If they won't, trade him now.
As to his value? Feels like a multiple future 2nds guy. Cheap so a team adds him without moving a rotation piece and has RFA rights so doesn't have to just be a rental. Be pretty surprised to get a first even kicking back the Philly pick.

Re: the Mavs sell? make offers...
Trading for Ingram would be an interesting tank move.
It almost has to include Gafford for salary needs..
If you made the salaries Klay, Gafford, Naji, Exum for Ingram, Theis, JRE or something.. and involved the Lakers getting Klay, and some fourth team (deal with details later)..
You could pay Ingram as part of the trade so not like you’re losing the third option despite tanking.. And you just keep him out with Luka and Lively. The center and wing rotation would guarantee the tank.
(Or maybe Ingram keeps the offense afloat until Luka is back and saves the season? Probably not)

Re: the Mavs sell? make offers...
As long as they can make the playin, why sell? By that time everyone might be healthy and they were like 2nd in west before injury hell. Btw, mavs have their pick this year? Wouldnt mind a shot at flagg with this group of players if it comes to that

Yes. That’s the idea. But it shouldn’t involve selling the little depth the team has like OP suggested. Just my opinion and I’m wrong plenty.
If you give up on this year and tank, at least you’re going into next year with a roster you can fill confident can compete and the top 10 pick.
I don’t think Dallas will or should go that route, but also think the team might be far enough out to consider it by the time Luka is back.

Oh i agree 100%. Im not selling any contributors this year. If a tank happens its a natural one because the players is let heal up 100% instead of throwing in a semiinjured luka kai and lively before they are ready to hunt a 10th spot
