Its unfortunate, but its a good chance once Butler is gone some of the things that happened will be leaked out. What you see publicly is only the end of all of the disputes with each other.

Anyone defending Jimmy is a bonafide clown.

Jimmy is digging his legacy's grave at this point. This is all on him.

He's a grown adult acting like a child.

I still don't understand why people underestimate Riley and him knowing EXACTLY what he was doing when he called Butler out at the end of year press conference and then do something Miami rarely does... go to the press and say they're not trading Butler. Anyone who knows anything about Butler understands there will be a reaction from him for that. Riley has taken a fanbase that was nearly 50/50 on extending Butler vs trading him and has turned most of the fanbase on Butler and wanting Butler out. I tried telling you this summer that comment of shut your mouth was a calculated move by Riley and it's worked. I think it's a pretty bad and a cold thing to do but it's also brilliant.

Now Miami will have 1 season, maybe 1 1/2 seasons of development then a pivot in free agency or possibly pre-free agency next season.

Why was it bad and cold? I think Pat really was fed up with Jimmy half-assing regular seasons, missing so many games, and all his trolling in general. Sure, he may have known how it would play out but that doesn't mean he wasn't genuine in what he said.

You don't go through the press to tell a player to shut up, at best that should be done behind closed doors.

If you work a job, you don't want your boss to show up at a company meeting and say that you should shut your mouth even off work. It's going to embarrass and upset you to a very high degree, and this was done in the media/public, not just in front of his team or how it should have been done... privately. I would say that most NBA players would have a real issue with management or even a governor saying that about them.

Eh, a question was asked (I believe by Tobin , of all people lol) and Riley responded. It wasn't like he went up there to specifically address that comment.

It started by disrespecting a grown man by telling him THROUGH THE MEDIA to shut his mouth. I can't believe anyone is good with a boss publicly ripping a current employee like that, you do that in private.

You don't think that was calculated or Riley is smart enough to know that's going to cause a **** storm with a player like Butler? Have a little bit of respect for the man, I may not like how he does some things but he's intelligent and calculated.

I do not hope it goes well for him on the Suns lol. In fact, the complete opposite :D

There's an unlimited amount of saguaro out there for him to sit on.

I don't think it is gonna go Jimmy's way or go well. Just a way to say it is Phoenix problem now

I haven’t had the opportunity to see Kelel Ware play, but I’m loving that Spo is starting a double big lineup. Wade seems to be doing well these last 2 games. How does the offense look with Ware and Bam? What style are they playing? My keeping up with the Heat is pretty much just by box score these days.

Didn't last night's game lower Butler's trade value because he didn't pick up the slack for Herro? Or is he in zombie mode waiting for the trade? And maybe other teams know that so Butler isn't auditioning for the trade?

He said he fed off confrontation. Though it seems every time there is a confrontation Jimmy gets going.

Jimmy Butler wrote:“I’m confrontational. I feed off of confrontation. It makes me go. Not everybody’s like that. [Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg] is not that coach, and there’s nothing wrong with that. There are different coaching styles and people are gonna say—which is what they did say—’It’s gonna be Jimmy’s team or it’s gonna be Fred’s team.’ Two total opposite ends of the spectrum. They’re either gonna try to win it now or they’re gonna go young. And you see which way they went with it. Completely fine. Yo, it’s y’all’s business. It’s y’all’s organization. It’s cool. And now I’m in Minnesota and couldn’t be happier.”’

And now I'm in Philadelphia and couldn't be happier.
And now I'm in Miami and couldn't be happier.
And now I'm in Phoenix and couldn't be happier.

It's pretty obvious professional courtesy in NBA are way different than the normal work place environment. I mean, imagine going to your boss who is paying you $50 million and saying you've lost your joy working for the company and demand they get you a job at only one other specific company. It's a different world so I don't think you can really compare.

It's almost like he was excused from shoot around to put him in a situation where he could get suspended. I don't know but saying the practice was cancelled and then the flight was moved up sure is interesting in this situation. It is pretty for this to happen now. It's a lot like the late payment to Butler, on it's own not an issue, it's the timeframe it happens. The GM tells you publicly to shut up, they don't extend you and all of a sudden, your first missed deposit happens. Maybe a coincidence, but at this point I doubt it, the public announcement that Miami would not trade Butler put a bow on it for me. The FO that doesn't leak information, the FO that has the rest of the NBA guessing what they're doing just publicly comes out and says they're not trading Butler, that's them pushing Butler's limits and yet, most of this fan base is good with bosses doing this to their employees.

I use to be pro team, it's **** like this that made me quit being a fan of teams. Chicago did their own propaganda against Butler and Thibodeau (and of course others), shipped out loyal players for the sake of money because the FO screwed up the financial future of the team.

Come on... really? The team that never leaks anything puts out a tweet/press release that they aren't trading Butler and this was supposed to fix a distraction, really?

RE: Wiz and Raptors potential involvement

I wonder if this is a swapping deck chairs:

Miami gets Brogdon
Toronto gets Rozier
Washington gets Brown

Or if there is a bigger play here, with some combo of Jordan Poole/Kyle Kuzma/JJJ being moved.

Return to Miami Heat
