I see the vision.

“Jimmy, we tried to get you to Phoenix, but nobody would take Beal, so welcome to MEMPIS.” WatChOuT turns out to be right for once, Marcus Smart becomes the ultimate Heat Culture glue guy (save for the incessant flopping), Pat does right by Jimmy in getting him to a contender, and Buttler stops by lovely WARTBURG on his way to MEMPIS.

This is the irony of it all… Phoenix has a hella of an uphill battle to make this work for them…. And they have zero leverage.

We have absolutely nothing to like or talk about when it comes to their very limited poopoo platter… and Jimmy has no leverage when it comes to going there this summer. So at the end of the day, either Phoenix figures out how to meet our demands, or Butler starts to get cozy with another outcome.

With the comments beals agent said, i dont think beal will waive his NTC. I didnt think it was possible a few weeks back, we are not gonna absorb that contract, or take in his NTC. And then Beal and his wife dont want to leave phoenix unless its for cali/los angeles.

I still say keeping butler has the highest probability.. with memphis being the best possible trade partner.. we have history dealing with memphis over the last two decades.. lets see what happens

Beal going wherever requires another **** contract going somewhere else. Candidates might be Ben Simmons (~$40M expiring), Zach Lavine (~$45-50M), Jordan Poole (~$30M), Tobias Harris (~$26M), KCP and J Isaac (~$45M combined), or Jerami Grant and D Ayton (~$65M combined)

Nothing new, but Barry’s take on what Heat will accept in trade:
Spoiler:
Here’s how the Heat generally views what it wants in return for Butler in what likely would be a multi-team trade: If Miami cannot land an All-Star player in return (highly unlikely), the Heat would be open to taking pretty good players with expiring contracts.

If the Heat is going to take back pretty good players with another year left on their contracts beyond this season, Miami wants an additional carrot or two — likely a draft pick.

The Heat has no interest in taking back big money that extends beyond next season because it’s eyeing the summer of 2026 as the ideal time to have significant cap space, considering that could be the best free agent class in history, headlined by Luka Doncic. (Most of the top players likely will sign extensions before that and won’t get to free agency, but historically, some players like to be relocated, and Miami would be in prime position to pounce.) As it stands, Miami has only $85 million committed for the 2026-27 season, well under the $170.6 million projected cap that season.

The Heat’s goal remains to trade Butler, but Miami is disinclined to take what it considers a bad deal. ▪ Even if the Suns are willing to give Miami three first-rounders, accepting Beal’s contract still seems to be a non-starter for Miami, barring a change of heart. Taking back Beal would leave Miami $5 million over the luxury tax line next season. And paying him the $57 million he’s due in 2026-27 would leave Miami with about $28 million in cap space, not enough to offer anyone a max contract that summer.

Nothing unreasonable there. Onus remains on Phoenix to find a new home for Beal (which Beal must also agree too) if they really want the barista.

I'm sure they internally have had a million conversations about Luka.

Just like they once dreamed about the idea of Giannis becoming a free agent.

Chances are, like Giannis, Luka will wind up extending with Dal.

When that happens, and the same is true about SGA, this grand 2026 strategy will become one big anticlimactic waste of time.

It’s amazing when someone see another person say and gets a reaction others do it for clicks. Amazing how the New Yuck ban and arrest former legendary players , there was no cry about no player going to come to Knicks

Giddy or Ayo
Herro
LaVine
Bam
Ware

A pass first PG (Giddy) or Jrue Holiday lite (Ayo) with Tyler and Lavine while having Bam in the dunkers spot and Ware on rolls/pop out 3s is way better than having guys like Middleton/Bruce Brown or whatever else proposed. How big a difference is it between Fox and LaVine? Yes Fox is better but he will probably be making more with his extension.

If I were the Suns I would be trading for Lavine and Vuc or blowing it up over trying to get Butler.

I like it.

Lavine became underrated, Ayo can defend and fits here.

Herro
Lavine
Bam
Ware

Just add a 3&D wing that can really defend 1-3 and let's roll.

Been saying this and you can still trade for Fox this summer with Terry and Duncan’s expirings.

Fox
Herro
Lavine
Bam
Ware

We’re not building a better team than that in 2026. That’s 3 all stars surrounded by an elite shooter in Herro and a guy coming of ROY who is 7 foot and can space the floor as well with Bam also improving there again over the summer

That’s definitely what happens except MAYBE Luka, the Heat are willing to take that gamble I guess. Makes you wonder if that’s their goal if they’ll even try to go after Fox considering they both play PG.

I think you’re reading way too much into the 2026 storyline. Their expectation likely is not landing Luka or SGA. The idea is giving yourself the flexibility to make a move, keeping the books clean for the summer of 2026 doesnt preclude us from pursuing a major player via trade before then.

Dragic fwiw has mentioned several times his ambitions of rejoining the organization in some capacity in the future. You never know, that could be a bridge to Luka.
