What if the Hail Mary failed, and the Bears were able to win 3-4 more games? Does any of this happen? That may have been a blessing

Re: Bears 10.0: GM and coach watch before the draft
I think RB will be a bigger focus this off-season than what we might realize. Swift is a good but not great RB and he has his limits in certain situations. I would not be surprised if Johnson targets Trey Henderson out of Ohio St. He big and strong and has elite explosiveness. He'd be the perfect combo to Swift's shiftiness, quickness, and pass catching. Henderson reminds me a lot of Jonathan Taylor and can eventually becomes the starter. A cherry on top addition would be Jamal Williams (assuming he gets cut). He's great on the goal line and short yardage situations. A RB room of Swift/Henderson/Williams might be the most versatile in the league. That would obviously mean RJ is gone.
Another player I would not be surprised Johnson zeros in on is Tyler Warren. He's possibly the best TE in the draft and if he's not 1 he's 1A. TE2 had a decently important role in Johnson's offense, so we know he'd like at least a serviceable player there. What I think would make Johnson hone in on him is Warren's versatility. In addition to his great catching ability, he can run and pass, too. And we all know that Johnson loves to get creative with his play calling. I think Johnson can think up some creative plays with Warren out there.
Obviously, these are priority positions (especially TE2, eventual TE1) but if we address most, if not all, positions of need, then these would be excellent pick ups.

Eventually this would happen sooner or later. You cannot delay inveitable. And that's that Flus was bad coach.
And that was evident on a fact and Ill quote reddit on this.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1gufzic/matt_eberflus_has_blown_5_games_where_he_had_a_90/
Matt Eberflus has blown 5 games where he had a 90% of higher win probability in his 3 year tenure as HC.
The odds of Matt Eberflus blowing all these leads (Mostly due to his defense and HC decisions) is 0.00000001476 or 1 in 68 million. For reference, you are almost 8x likely to get struck by lighting twice in your life than Eberflus was to blow all 6 of these games and these don't even include all of them.
Flus may not get fired, but I dont think he would have got contract extension in any way shape or form.

To be fair, there were also a few games that went the other way, or almost did. The MIN game, that we took to OT after recovering an onside kick. What were the odds that we'd tie that game up? Probably less than 2%. And then there was the Packers game, that we should have won but for a blocked FG, and the first Lions game, that we should have at least tied up, if not won.

Ben says it’s “The Chicago Way” from here on out. He took the blood oath, they send one of ours to the hospital, we send one of theirs to the morgue.

Apparently, Thomas Brown is out. As are all the rest of the previous coaching staff other than ST coach.

As expected. Ben Johnson should be allowed to hire his staff. Cleaning house also helps level set the culture too.
AKME got to go

I think making the playoffs get them in. 4 more games would be 9-8. I think it probably doesn't save Flus unless the offense had looked a ton better, specifically. If Caleb's performance was pretty close to what it was, and they were winning based more on the defense holding up better down the stretch, I don't think that does it. Interesting to think about though.

Re: Bears 10.0: GM and coach watch before the draft
PFF has their top FA list out and give projected deals
I would do all 3 of these Oline deals:
Free Agents:
RG Trey Smith 4 year $80 - $20m
LG K Zeitler (Det) 1 yr $8m
C Drew Dalman (ATL)4 yr $46m - $12m (top FA C)
(Tev Jenkins 3 yr $40m. $13per)pass
Not much in WRs in FA:
WR Hollywd Brown 2yr $18 - $9m
Edge kind of thin also:
Edge options:
K Mack (33) 2 yr $40 - $20m
C Young (25yo) 2 & $36 $-18per
H Reddick (31) 2 yr $25 $13per

In the past, Poles has been very selective in free agency, not getting involved in any of the big names. I hope this year he changes his tune and steps up for the players we need.

Re: Bears 10.0: GM and coach watch before the draft
also uh...are we seeing a hint of why we didn't bother interviewing coen this go around?
obviously there was no way of knowing something like this would go down, but a dude willing to pull a snake move of this magnitude might have given off either unprepared or slimy vibes when we interviewed him for OC a year ago

Kinda like I was alluding to in my earlier post, are these just the best linemen available without consideration of scheme fit? I'd rather not pay top dollar for a guy that doesn't fit the scheme and most certainly won't outperform his contract.
It makes much more sense to grab an above average guy that is perfect for your scheme, will be much cheaper, and will most likely outperform their contract.
But I also don't know what kind of scheme BJ will implement and what kind of linemen will fit best.

Re: Bears 10.0: GM and coach watch before the draft
Ben Johnson was asked about DJ walking off the field during a game: ‘It was disrespectful to the team, Disrespectful to the game, we won’t want to see that anymore’
Ben to the team looking them in the eyes: “Get comfortable being uncomfortable”.
This guy threw down the authority like a ton of bricks. So much for the leadership question right out of the gate.
