The media agenda against Melo is absurd

4th, ok
5th, maybe

7th??? GTFO

Mitchell
Brunson
Trae
Cade
Maxey
Dame
Garland

Media is obsessed with record. Save that **** for all nba team voting.

I want to be salty about this but at the end of the day I don’t think he’s played particularly well this season and missed a bunch of games to boot. I’m probably closer to the media vote than the fan vote. If he was truly having an elite season and the roster and staff was just so atrocious, and they are truly bad don’t get me wrong, then okay but his shooting numbers are starting to get truly abysmal.

The NBA loves nothing more than killing joy and losing fans. Every single thing they do backfires. I’m boycotting Silver’s ASG for the foreseeable future.

I think I'm less annoyed that he wasn't voted as a starter, but mostly ignored the media had him at 7th. Mitchell and Brunson were second and third in fan voting and first and second in media and player voting. I think they correctly deserved to start Based on performance and at least they were both in the top three fan Voting wise. For melo to have overtaken Brunson He would have had to have finished at least 4th in the media vote For an outright win over Brunson. Fifth in the media vote would have put him in a tie with Brunson. Not sure how the tiebreaker would have worked in this case. Maybe someone can Elaborate.

The media had the East Guards voted like this
mitchell
brunson
garland
cade
lillard
trae
melo

Obviously winning cures all. If the Hornets and Melo want to be respected By the media then they've got to put some W's in the win column next year. You can't have it both ways. you can't blatantly tank for several years in a row and then cry when nobody takes you seriously I guess. We all know this league is obsessed with winning above everything else.
The All Star game is a time to reward individual brilliance not team success. There's a million other ways to celebrate the team success during the course of the year. So in this sense, the league has it completely wrong.

kevin O'Connor
@KevinOConnorNBA
I voted LaMelo Ball as a starter. Genuinely shocked he only got three votes.

All-NBA would be a much different story. This is the All-Star Game. Should be in it.

He was a total of three media votes away from starting because that's all that separated him from 7th place down to 5th place, tie

Ridiculous, but not totally unexpected.

The media didn't do the NBA any favors. The entire point of the event is to entertain the fans and Melo's style was made for all-star weekend. Hopefully the coaches put him in but I doubt it.

The dumb part is that Mitchell and Brunson were in regardless of if they are starters, nobody cares who starts 5 years from now. The Voters should consider the fan vote more as long as it is not Zaza Pachulia levels of crazy. If a guy is borderline allstar and he wins the fan vote you should put him in because this game is supposed to be for the fans. Not for Media members to push their favorite players.

i'm convinced the media did what they did to "balance" out the exorbitant fan vote.

do coaches still vote on the rest of all-stars? I imagine their votes will be closer to that of the players (3rd among eastern guards) than morons like Kendrick Perkins

at the absolute worst, Melo will be the first injury replacement for anyone that goes down, so I'm not worried about him getting snubbed entirely

The format certainly makes it easy for me to skip. Now it's like the NFL Pro Bowl: I want guys I root for to get named, but I don't plan on watching much of it at all.

Good test of whether he's been building strength in that ankle and how the braces affect injuries

Injured, Just in time for 7 more straight home games. Sucks for everyone who bought tickets to see him. They can try again in mid March.

We used to have MKG injured for years and would have to deal with it.

Now we have everyone injured for years at the same time and have to deal with it.

I know we all have PTSD when it comes to injuries in general, especially with LaMelo. I expect him to miss some games, but did the ankle tweak really seem that bad? He sprung back up to foul and gingerly jogged to the locker room and was able to put weight on it. Feels like we all need to chill until official word comes back today.
