Commanders take down Lions to advance to NFC title game.

What a turnaround for the Commanders.

I think you’re in the wrong forum. This is for the Cowboys.

I wasn't finished.

Just goes to show that one off-season can make a big difference.

Hopefully Jerry makes the right moves this time around.

The source is not someone I would normally post but this is an actual possibility.

In my semi-regular email from the Fan, Schottenheimer‘s name made its way into my consciousness.

You’re right - it’s an absolute possibility.

This is the 1st mock from Mel Kiper. He has the Cowboys drafting WR Luther Burden III from Missouri. He’s 1 of 4 guys that I’d be looking at drafting at pick 12 if I’m the Cowboys . The four I’m looking at are:

WR Luther Burden III
OL Will Campbell
OL Kelvin Banks Jr
RB Ashton Jeanty

Not all of them are going to make it to 12. These are the guys I would want at 12.

Keep in mind I’m expecting Abdul Carter, Will Johnson, and Mason Graham to all be gone by 12 so I don’t factor them in to the Cowboys pick.

I hope it is not Schottenheimer. So underwhelming.

I think I'd actually rather have Deion than that.

It really does seem like it’s going to be Schotty. According to Jane Slater all the talking to Pete Carroll and Deion might have more to do with them getting “feelers” on what people think of Brian Schottenheimer as a potential HC.

And it would appear (appearances and such) that ol’ Pete may be using Jerry as leverage with Mark Davis.

Which is pretty comical when you think about it...

I honestly don't care for any of those names. I suppose I'd want Carroll of the candidates listed. But honestly he kind seems like another MM to me.

I mean, we just really dropped the ball on Belichick. He's there, can't sit around and wait on it, got to snag it while it's available.

The latest word is that there is an internal debate between Jerry and Stephen/Jerry Jr. Stephen and Jr want Brian Schottenheimer. Jerry is leaning towards Deion but prefers to interview all the possible candidates.

Who they hire is going to tell us A LOT about who is actually in charge of the Cowboys.

Carroll to the Raiders.

So… does he hire as his offensive coordinator…

If Schottenheimer doesn’t get the Cowboys job it’s likely him as the OC in Oakland.

Darrell Bevell, Schotty & Shane Waldron we're his OC's in Seattle. Waldron was the worst of the three by far.

If Schotty doesn't get the Cowboys job, then it's very possible he lands in Vegas. But I would put my money on Bevell before the other two. He's currently the QB coach of the Dolphins.

Pro's
- Pete has a PHD in building a team culture. You won't find a better leader of men & at the same time is a master at getting players to buy-in to his philosophy. His players absolutely love him. He is the ultimate player's coach.

Con's
- He'll be 74 this year.

- As an older guy, his approach to the game is very old school & conservative.

- He's been around for so long that the league has figured him out for the most part. He had trouble adjusting as time went on in Seattle. This is especially true of his defense. The last time he had a top 10 defense was way back in 2016.

- His Coordinator hires have been very lackluster on both sides of the ball. He also tends to promote from within. He had both of his Sons on staff at one point. His coaching tree is fairly mediocre.

- His teams typically have played undisciplined. He's always been near the top of the league in penalties. Even the year that they won the Super Bowl, they led the league in penalties. He doesn't really drill the important details.

- His in-game clock management isn't the greatest. But I'm sure most fans know that by now.

- He has just one playoff win since 2017.

As a USC fan - I am a BIG Pete fan. I could have been fine with him here and hope he can help get the Raiders back on the right track.

And honestly - at this point knowing the Cowboys (I.e.; Jerry) the way I do from 30 years of his crap, I can be convinced that Brian should be hired. Whoever comes in here does so knowing the salary cap is a complete mess and there is no “quick fix” (like FA signings). I have no doubt Schottenheimer understands that.

Well, I guess the Raiders are my AFC team.

Yeah, Schotty will be fine as a HC.
