V Mobley
N KAT

Guess I’ll expound a little. Trade value, not current player value. KAT isn’t cheap, but he’s the best offensive big man actively playing that isn’t Jokic, so you live with less rim protection but solid man defense.

As for Mobley, I had him in front of Banchero and neck-and-neck with Ant. He looks like a modern TD in the making, locked up long term, no issues, just not a vocal leader type. The one guy Cleveland should never part with.

As for Biid, not in my 25. There’s no reason to believe he’s going to be healthy, and even when he is, his playoff struggles likely remain. Certainly wouldn’t trade anyone already nominated+ or another handful of guys to come straight up for his contract if I’m trying to build a franchise. Taking a chance on a single title? Sure, maybe, but that’s not how I approach this.

Everyone can vote on whatever factors they believe hold the most value with GMs, so you’re not wrong. In addition, everything you say is true, and both are high risk, and some GMs are risk-averse. But I can explain why I voted this way.

I believe the ultimate goal for a GM to keep his job is to win championships. If Ja and Embiid have one of their good seasons, they have so much talent that they can bring many teams a championship. This isn’t projected talent either, like “well this young player is looking good, and maybe one day he can be a #1 on a championship team.” When Ja and Embiid are right, they have already proven they are MVP-caliber players.

In the real NBA, we continue to see high-risk, high-return players bring back big trade returns, or continue to get giant contracts (like Ben Simmons), despite we internet voters underestimating them. We label worse players in this category “untradeable” and then see them not only get traded, but get a neutral or even positive return. Ja and Embiid have the highest of ceilings.

As an example, OKC is playing great and has a decent chance of winning a championship this year. That said, we don’t know how the next five months will go, and there are several teams that could knock them out. How much do their odds improve if they added Embiid? How much would they pay for that? You’re 100% right, it could flop, but nobody raises a banner for “most picks.”

V Chet
N Garland

I would’ve gone hard for Chet at 8 but he hasn’t been healthy. For that reason don’t blame anyone who doesn’t have him this high either.

yeah I just can't see Chet in the top ten when he's played one season out of 3 and has a body type where injuries are more an expectation than an aberration. And he's a very good young player but you'd be trading for one more cheap year then looking at a max or near max for a guy who hasn't shown enough yet.

Chet scares me. When he’s fully healthy and playing, I think I’d take him over Ant and Banchero and everyone to come, which puts him like 7th? But I hsve zero faith he’s going to stay healthy. Will still be in my personal 25, unlike Embiid (age, chronic issues) and Zion (doesn’t care enough),but not as high as others. Too risky. I expect some big years, though.

Also, I don’t have Ja soon, either. And I don’t think he’s shown himself as a championship-level player, either, if that means real MVP contender. Cares about the wrong things off the court, has exploitable weaknesses on the court, even if he is really good at the things he can do.

Whoever is voting Mobley should visit back to the Franz vs. Mobley debate a few weeks back. If Mobley wins this poll as #9 then Franz should automatically win #10 simply by default.

Vote: Morant. He can be an MVP and he's on a solid deal entering his prime.
Nominate: LaMelo. I think he's very good at basketball
