People haven’t been paying enough attention to Simons, what they saw last night was just normal Simons lol. I’m not saying he’s an All Star ( yet  ) but if you really want to be impressed look at his highlights this season and see just how DEEEEEEP his shot can extend out to.

I’m with you, he’s among a handful of really exceptional shooters - and has been for a relatively long time, despite his age. His defensive ratings would jump if surrounded by a more defensive-emphasis team like ORL…and, he’s capable of much more offensive variety than other elite, high-volume shooters like Kennard, Hield, etc. Those guys do nothing but shoot-Simons can go shot for shot with them AND get 5 assists, dribble in traffic and, if you close out, dunk on your Center.

He’s far from perfect - but would be perfect for us.

I am well aware of the player Simon's is but he was obviously playing with a bit more pizzazz last night, like he was auditioning.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

And it is a trade that makes both teams better.
That seems like too much for Simons. I think you could get away with Cole + Jett + our 1st round pick this year

Conceptually I agree with you. But: if the Magic is to bring in Simons, Caldwell-Pope needs to be traded. Either he is part of a three-team deal, or Portland, a team that would not see Caldwell-Pope as an asset, would "need more".
I agree that Orlando and Portland could/should call up a contender that needs a SG (Denver?) and work out something fair.

Anthony, Caldwell-Pope, and Denver's FRP for Simons and a Denver big (?DeAndre Jordan?) would be fine for Orlando.

p.s. you had me at "trade Anthony :) "

Interesting. What makes you say that KCP has to leave in order for Simons to come in?

would be interesting if he'd be ok coming off the bench... because that's what should happen if we get Simons.

Simons
Suggs
Franz
Paolo
Goga

Bench- KCP, AB, TDS, WCJ, JI
That's your 10 man rotation once healthy

Deep Bench/Injury replacements - Jett, Houstan, Queen
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

KCP will be ok with whatever coach tells him. He doesn't need to be ok with anything. His play has not been that of a starter and at this point in his career he is a bench player.

Problem is without MO that bench has little to no offensive flow. AB and KCP off the bench and brickfest. I honestly would be more wiling to include AB in the trade over Cole. Cole at least provides spark off the bench and gives you some random buckets. AB just doesn't provide much right now.

Calswell-Pope is not a bench player. And Simons is a starter.

Look at his averages for the last few years...that's a typical output - in fact, he took it easy on us from 3

How about you just watch what happens when he or Sexton land on a playoff team. While he's putting up 6-12 3pter's, you can nitpick when he's forced to switch on Giannis and Giannis scores "see see - he sucks, I was right"

Simons dropped 21 points last night on us EFFORTLESSlY! I didn’t once get the feeling he was forcing anything, or that he was ball dominating to much. Hell if anything it was like he was to unselfish and made several nice passes to teammates. He wasn’t even trying hard it was easy and natural.

Simons has scored at least 20 points and made 3 3's AT LEAST 20 times this year... Imagine if we were able to add that to our team. Dude could probably average 4+ 3's a night with the open looks he'd get in Orlando

and he was 3-6 from 3, his avg is 8.1 3pta's...so, even more evidence that he's not "just" one of the best shooters in the NBA. He's got a 6'9 wingspan and he won the dunk contest - this is not Luke Kennard or Kyle Korver we're talking about.

People also forget he plays in Portland for crying out loud lol, he’s never played with a roster half as talented as what we have now. He’s been a good teammate, he hasn’t been a distraction, you don’t hear him complaining or being selfish. He’s not even in his prime , he’s got room to improve. He checks every box for us besides “defense “ AND he’s freaking 25 years old MEANING HE FITS THE TIME LINE. He grows with Paolo, Franz, Suggs! He teaches AB and Suggs how to play combo guard , in practice Simons daily gets to grow and excel playing against Suggs and AB offensively and defensively! In all honesty they rub off on one another and are wall better players because of that.

Can we acknowledge that Simons has a 55.2 TS%? I like the idea of the spacing and the potential that he can improve with better shot selection, but when we call him great, surely we should acknowledge that he has shot poorly this year right?

I mean it's fine if you think that we shoot so bad that it makes him really valuable to us, but that shouldn't change his value at 27 million in the league as a whole.

He played with the Dame/CJ Blazers so incorrect.

We need to extend him to grow with our team, what do you think gets it done?

We need him so bad! It´s a perfect match and now we can buy him low.
I hate our FO for not doing the most obvious and easiest things to improve our roster.

He was on the team with Dame and CJ sure, but he didn’t come into his own till those guys were gone really.
Portland is in a tough spot because of Scoot and Sharpe , they are a bad team in the tough Western Conference. They need to shed salary and get draft assets to build..

I thought he played his best with Dame, which maybe bodes well for him being a 3rd option.

I'm saying we would need to extend him for him to be a part of the core and that price will be a huge factor in if it's worth acquiring him. What do we think gets the extension done?
