I so hope that happens. This year in particular we could use an extra 3rd round pick because we don't have a 4th rounder. With 2 3rd round picks we can nab a Center for the future like Jake Majors from Texas, Jared Wilson from Georgia or Caleb's old USC teammate Jonah Monheim. And also grab a Safety like Kevin Winston Jr from Penn State or Latham Ransom from Ohio State. (When in doubt look for players from elite programs.)

Guys will have a chance to start out with a clean slate (with him at least….don’t think the fans will ever forget that). But Stevenson is a solid player. He’s had his roller coaster moments. But talent/contract, I think he’ll be seen as a young guy that just has some growing up to do.

Man Stevenson looked just god awful to me last year. Every time I remember him in a play it was for a bad reason. It got to the point that when I saw someone miss a tackle or make a bad read and got beat, I'd say "I bet it was Stevenson" then look, it almost always was.

Granted, I'm not trying to present myself as some defensive guru, so maybe he was great in some other ways, but boy was he in the middle of a lot of mistakes.

It's true. He's a tough nosed player and a ballhawk, but he gets picked on a ton and teams usually have a ton of success against him. I'd have to think he's either just not that skilled, or he's making a bunch of small mental mistakes.

He does get picked on a lot because teams know that he tends to gamble a lot. Because of this, he does give up big plays but we’ve also seen him make a number of big plays too. As a primary DB, he wouldn’t be much good. But as a nickel corner, I don’t find him to be all that bad. Just my opinion though.

Come on home. But he probably wants to call plays. He can take a lesser job too.

I think there's a number of jobs he can still get. Raiders are an obvious choice to me.

And Bobby Slowik was such the hot item last off season. Almost as much as Ben Johnson was this off season. The NFL is so fickle- what works today may not work tomorrow.

Kenan Allen is literally one of the greatest route runners of all time. Moore isn't too shabby either. Odunze was drafted because of his route running.

I could not take that poster serious once he compared Johnson to Nagy. The BIG difference, Ben Johnson was running his offense for multiple years, whereas Nagy never, or rarely, ran his own offense. Johnson is a legitimate playcaller, Nagy was a fraud.

It's clear that poster did not watch Ben Johnson's offense, at only time over the past three years.

but he had one trick play not work. obviously he doesn't belong in the league

dang prateek and here I thought you were agreeing with me. I gave you that and 1 and this is the thanks I get??? Grab that, Jo.

I really like barret. Didn’t think he’d be an option becuase I didn’t think the lions would let Johnson take so many staff members. Just assumed we’d have to get them from other teams.

Saw that we also hired Al Harris as DB coach/defensive pass game coordinator. I love this hire. Wanted him to be our DC. He was excellent in Dallas with Quinn.

Salen officially back with the 49ers. He was my top notice as dc but if he wasn’t going to be a HC, going back to SF always made the most sense

Not that it means anything, but I actually played against Randle El in HS back when he was at Thornton. Didn’t know him personally. But he and Reginald Hayward (played for the Broncos and the Jags) were two top players in the conference at that time.

Hiring defensive coaches before the DC strikes me as a little curious. Though I haven’t paid much attention before to the order of things like that. On offense I get it because Ben is in essence, the OC, and he delegates the busy work to his “OC”

Farley is also staying in Detroit and getting a promotion. Hopefully we can get the assistant

Yeah. That is kinda odd. As I was reading I was expecting to read DC. Maybe they know who the dc will be and it’s just a matter of getting the contract in order.

I am also curious what the holdup is on the DC hire. We heard Allen. Then we heard about the Vikings guy that has the same job as Al Harris. Hopefully the holdup isn’t our old friend George.

Found it odd as well. Also haven't noticed somebody being named 'assistant' head coach like Randle El. Guessing Johnson's preferred OC and DC are possibly being considered as candidates elsewhere......unless, oddly, Randle El's assistant title encompasses OC duties.
