We all wanted no part of Beal, but now a significant number here are talking themselves into getting Zach Lavine as a championship piece.

If I'm Horst, this Board must give him a lot of enjoyment and a huge ego.

Zach LaVine made an Olympic team. Would think that would bring some respect to his name.

I'd much rather have Lavine than Butler. Lavine is a really really good catch and shoot guy.

Defense would take a hit but the offense would be pretty ridiculous.

My order of preference:

Keep Khris

Lavine

Butler

Space bar ×10000000 Beal

Respect.

If all of these guys were 100% healthy, your order would be my order. But since this is gambling on health and attitude, Lavine, Khris then JButt.

I just have a feeling that Lavine can become the Celtics version of Ray Allen on the right team, even if he loses some athletic ability which is still insane, by the way. I mean honestly we haven't had a guy like this since Jesus Shuttlesworth held service at the Bradley Center.

What do you think?

Nice, another Post fan. I had a trade on here to land him and others earlier this morning after last night's 20 point game. I was hoping we'd land an extra 2nd round pick and draft Quentin this past summer, and sign him to a 2 way. He's BroLo with passing ability.

Lavine played 25 games last season but posters are acting like he's AC Green.

Appreciating your perspective on this Supreme (especially if we get him and gotta do our best to rationalize).

Running with the comparison….

LaVine - Ray
Dame - Paul Pierce
Giannis - KG
Brook - Perk
Ajax - Rondo

Oh and Doc - Doc.

You can dislike Lavine (I get it), but Monta is a terrible comparison.

Lavine is obviously the better player, but they both are guys that need high usage to be most effective. We just don’t need a volume scorer with Giannis and Dame. Add in the fact that he’s a sieve on D and just a general queef and it’s a hard pass for me.

ETA: we have the 2 guard position locked up with two guys that are absolutely perfect for this team. Catch and shoot guys that are solid defenders with no need for high usage.

You and I discussed Lavine as a freshman at UCLA. Way back machine.

I lost the mojo for him at some point, but I've come back to the flock.

We don't need more catch-and-shoot guys who will stand in the corner. We have enough of those guys. We need guys who can carry the second unit and who can get their own buckets when the defense tries to take away Giannis/Dame. They don't need to be high usage in general. They just need to be capable of being a high usage player in short spurts when Dame/Giannis are on the bench. A guy who can run an effective two-man game with either of them.

Khris is obviously capable of that with Giannis. He and Dame haven't quite gotten there, but I actually am fairly certain that they'd play quite well off of one another with more seasoning.

Can LaVine do that?

Prior to Dame I begrudgingly admitted we could use a guy like Lavine. Now he’d be completely superfluous. Picking between him and Beal is like having to vote in a general election.

As one of Khris’s biggest detractors I’d much rather keep him over Lavine. You at least have the playmaking and locker room guy.

There is zero evidence any of the shooting guards on this team will play well when the intensity goes up in the playoffs. Nah, I don’t feel like letting another season in the playoffs go to waste. Go all out.

What evidence do we have that their play will drop off?

For argument’s sake imagining the maximally optimistic take on dude:

LaVine works out he’s young enough to keep building around post-Dame.

Offense all over the place, but by March we're going to have the negative 3rd best defense.

More November and January and less October and we’re good.

January so far is fools gold.
7 of the 10 games we’ve played in January were at home. 8 of the 10 were against non-playoff teams.
Can’t make a schedule any easier yet we still managed to lose to Brooklyn and Portland at home.

Because we’ve seen their play drop off against crap teams. That’s the problem with guys like Dairy, Rollins, etc. The odds of them being a 16 game player aren’t strong. I’d trust Lavine to be able to get what we need in the playoffs

So Prince and AJJ starting games is gonna get us to the Finals? There’s just no way. Not a chance. It’s either 4 on 5 on offense or you’re rolling the dice with Green, who’s one-dimensional on offense and looked bad against the Pacers in the first round last year. Why take this risk? Two postseasons have already gone to waste. We have probably two years of prime Dame and Giannis left together.

Alternative take on Jimmy for argument’s sake:

If he wasn’t throwing yet another hissy fit (this time transparently about money) we’d be laughing all the way to the bank to trade broken Khris, Bobby and a protected pick for him.

There just aren’t many two way stars with a proven track record looking like MJ when it counts in the playoffs.

The years on the extension matter but seems like he’s got another couple good years in him if his head is screwed on right — which of course is the problem.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
