Sidy sighting.

It shouldn't be a case of his getting minutes because we're playing in France.

He's worked hard. Looked great in Austin. Has great D, terrific court vision passer, physical, more confident on O.

We need bigger bodies. Give him more minutes with the big club.

Lmao we had NOBODY down low.

So we go from five Spurs in the paint to none. Buckets outside and down low against.

Poor Sidy absolutely mauled while mid air, F1 called, takes FTs, goes to locker room.

Mamu ejected for an F2 foul. Legit call, honestly. Went for shoulders from behind while driver was in the air.

Bad ending to a bad game.

Two nationally televised games in a row where we looked like a total clown show. This game was predictable after the Wemby boner event on Thursday.

Most people who aren't die hard Spurs fans have seen this game and the Christmas game. There is no defending what is said about us by those people.

The "trying to grow the game" thing is way overplayed also. International games and FIBA are way more exciting than this. Its more obvious today because we lost but its true.

Glad everyone is getting a check though. Well done in that regard. Thats what this trip was about. Everyone made a buttload of cash but no one is better at basketball.

4TH Q: SPURS 98 PACERS 136

*sigh*

Where to start?

Countless runs against. We were down 12 coming into the 4TH and the game ended in a 38-point deficit. We scored 12 points in the final Q. We scored 4 points in the second half of the 4TH Q.

Lots of wide open 3s allowed.

Lots of TOs, TWENTY-FOUR, which cost us THIRTY-SIX POINTS. And that's pretty much the game.

All those TOs meant they got way more chances to score. We managed only 85FGAs to their 102. Took fewer and made fewer 3s, allowing a 10% better efficiency from the arc.

Add to it we had weirdo small ball lineups when Wemby got bench breathers - Sochan at 5, Barnes at 4, and we got destroyed in PITP 62-46.

Their pace overwhelmed us as well with 26-12 fast break points against.

We did better getting to the FT line for 25 attempts but made only 17. It would have been a bandaid for a dam crack but still. It's indicative of missed opportunities, and the biggest culprit was tons of missed layups, that's when we managed to create shot situations.

FTs didn't really reflect the physicality that was allowed by them and not by us. But when a team is aggressive all the time, you can't call everything, and it feels like refs adjusted to a higher physical baseline for them.

They full court pressed us from the start, good adjustment, took advantage of our smalls by having a second big down low, good adjustment, and were the more hungry, aggressive team.

It was a reverse game of the last one in every respect, from 3s to PITP to transition pushes, to aggressiveness.

We were poorly prepared mentally and strategically and physically for the rematch and well, here we are.

We DESPERATELY NEED A QUALITY BACK UP BIG.

We desperately need an overall infusion of talent around Wemby who still managed a double double through a very physical defense.

Vets stepped up. Barnes single handedly kept us in it early. Led us with 25. CP3 was efficient and judicious in his shot selection, dished well.

Dev no show with 6 points on bad efficiency 2-8 and -30 and Sochan no show 2 points on 1-5 and -30, defending the perimeter quicker guard who took full advantage, meanwhile we got killed inside. It would have been better to have Dev or Castle or the very quick Blake or the quicker Sidy on the perimeter and put Sochan inside. Adjustments...

Our bench put up only three 3s...

Julian only got to put up 1.

Mamu 1.

We have to get better at setting up our players for their best shots. Cardio Champagnie trying to dribble and TOing it is not it.

Castle left open to take 3s plays to defender schemes. They will take that 26% from the arc all day long. But he adjusted well in the second half and impacted the game closer to the basket, getting steals, O boards, making hard physical drives. Good lunch pail work.

Dev is a player who fares far better working through our set plays to get him open. Not that he can't create his own shot but there's an imbalance of relying on him to do so too much and he's too slow and deliberate and tends to get tunnel vision ISOing early in the clock, one and done, not passing to anyone. And everyone else ends up standing around watching him. This is not our game, not his game. We need him to be more consistent but we also need to better set him up for it. He was much more successful last season with lots of set actions to help get him open.

Keldon only 4FGAs is underutilized weaponry.

Just lots of film to look at. This is what playing against talent and smart adjustments and harder hustle is like. Yes they are ahead of us in terms of competing, but there is a LOT of work we can do to improve regardless. Control what you can. Effort. Film. Execution. Lots of time on the flight home.

Death, taxes, and Harrison Barnes putting up 25 on the Pacers...the only things you can guarantee in life!
