I don't know how credible the rumors are that Turner might be available, but thought I'd throw out a trade that would limit Indiana's costs while also giving them some value that might matter in building a good long-term team around Hali.
ATL trades: Onyeka Okongwu, Clint Capela, 2025 pick swap (IND has the right to swap its first with the higher of LAL/SAC 1st conveyed to ATL, 1-8 protected), 2025 MIN 2nd, 2027 LAC 2nd, 2028 HOU 2nd
in: Myles Turner, Obi Toppin, Jalen Hood-Schifino
I'd love to see what Quin Snyder could do with Turner, and I think he is an extremely fun fit next to Trae and Jalen. Toppin also gives them good depth at power forward and should be an admirable fill-in while Johnson recovers.
IND trades: Myles Turner, Obi Toppin
in: Rui Hachimura, Onyeka Okongwu, 2025 pick swap (IND has the right to swap its first with the higher of LAL/SAC 1st conveyed to ATL, 1-8 protected), 2025 MIN 2nd, 2027 LAC 2nd, 2028 HOU 2nd
Indiana cuts about a million in salary this season, but importantly trades for a young center locked into an affordable contract. Hachimura has one more year after this, but I think that is fine. He is a reasonable fit on the team and contributes to a more sustainable long-term salary situation. One thought would be to include Orlando and see if you can get some value for an Okongwu for WCJ swap if the Pacers really want to retain three point shooting at center, though I don't think it is out of the question that OO becomes a reasonable threat considering his FT%. Indiana also gets the right to swap their pick, at this moment they would move up from 20 to 14, and they get some 2nds.
LAL trades: Rui Hachimura, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Christian Wood, 2025 LAC 2nd
in: Clint Capela
The Lakers get a starting-caliber center without murdering their depth or sending out first round picks. Capela is somewhat switchable, so he may be a better defensive fit than some other options.
DET trades: nothing
in: Christian Wood, 2025 LAC 2nd
Detroit gets paid a 2nd to take some inconsequential salary, but they could be replaced with any time that would take half a year of salary for a mid-2nd.

I'd love WCJ, but he can't be traded this season due to his extension.
Otherwise, IF Turner came out and said "I will not re-sign in Indy", Indy would do this. Otherwise, I just don't see a Myles swap happening this year. And, if a swap like this happened, we'd really just prefer to hang onto Obi rather than swapping for Rui. Like, we'd have the money issue solved, so we'd keep the guys we like?
In general, I personally like Okongwu. I just don't know that he'll be an easy fit into the Indy offense. He's a decent enough roll man/lob guy that it could work in limited minutes. I just think offensively, it wouldn't be ideal. Defensively, he slides well into most any lineup, so that's clearly where the value lies for an Indy.

That makes sense, something like Okongwu + Zeller + pick swap and 2nds, then?

If Turner came to Indy and said “I absolutely won’t return”, then sure. If he said “I want to test free agency” I’d probably say no dice to a deal like this and risk it.

As I've said elsewhere, I think Turner stays and we trade someone next summer to keep us out of tax.

Re: Turner to Atlanta, Capella to the Lakers (w/DET)
This is a solid trade idea, and I think all teams would be happy with it.
For the Hawks it's not bad, having a 5 our offense with Young is something we've wanted to see for a while, and Toppin would also look amazing running with that team. They go from a terrible 3pnt shooting team to one that all of a suddenly has a ton of space and versatility.
Pacers get younger, better rebounding, better defense, and solve their Turner question.
Lakers get their center, DET gets a 2nd
Well thought out trade, and one I would like to see happen

The Turner problem is keeping him without going into taxland. Trading him gives up on solving the problem.

When Turner retires from basketball some day who is going to be the new "on the trade block" every year due to fake rumor guy?

This absolutely a trash proposal and everyone knows it. Why does every trade proposal on this site have Indy downgrading its talent and corrupt it's offensive style?
Turner and Obi for 2 players that don't fit what Indy does offensively, 3 2nd rd draft picks and a swap(maybe, as long as we would finish higher in the standings than Atl and Sac which seems unlikely with this deal). Are you kidding me?
