Are we going to overreact to a single game after Jokic got destroyed by Gobert or do we only do that when he does well?

Jokic is a great offensive player but his lack of defensive presence is the worst of any top center ever. I can never put him over the great centers of the past like Kareem Wilt Dream Duncan Shaq and even Russell whose offense is not what those others centers were at.

Dude Jokic has done well over 95 percent of his games. Jokic has maybe 2 or 3 bad games all year. Hilarious.

That's the point. People were acting like the MVP race is changing based off single games the other day when he had 35/25/12 or whatever. You can't be making these wild swings game by game.

Russel’s offense is comparable to Jokic’s defense. What makes jokic great is his generational offense. He is average to above. No one claiming otherwise but his offense is way better than anyone on this list.

Also Jokic ‘s well game is better than anyone’s well games. That’s the point. Also it is close between sga and Jokic. You are the one saying it is not close.

The Kings game was basically a market correction because people had been focusing on SGA’s amazing season for the past 3 weeks and his odds of winning MVP were arguably higher than they ought to be given Jokic’s case

Jokic is not a minus defender but he definitely benefits from this being the weakest slashing era in decades. Ant gets whatever he wants against that team and it's easy to picture what guys like Wade, Rose, and Lebron would do to that kind of paint defense. Thankfully for Jokic those level of slashers aren't around at the moment

Jokic has been demoted from top 5 All Time to fringe top 50 all time after this game

You have to play both sides of the ball if you're going to win MVP as a lower seed. Jokic got cooked on D today.

nah he's a minus defender

not a huge minus, but comfortably below average for starters at his position

Is there actually any evidence he’s a minus defender? Don’t the advance stats generally show him as a plus defender?

Don’t most of the advanced stats show him as a plus defender?

you'd have better luck asking a magic eight ball if he's a good defender than relying on most advanced defensive metrics

What do you use to determine how good a player is on defense?

Jokic may have lost MVP today.

Gobert has his number.

Give Jokic Dort and Wallace and his defense would look a lot better too. It just so happens that he plays alongside a lot of terrible defenders.

We all want to hype SGA as some dominant two way player but if he was playing alongside Murray, Westbrook and MPJ his defensive contributions would hardly be celebrated.

Alls I’m trying to say that Jokic would look MUCH better on defense if he had competent perimeter help. Which he clearly doesn’t.

08/09 Wade dropping 50 on 25 shots vs Jokic.
