Blazers and Lakers haven’t traded in over 40 years, and the trades before that were about as minor as can be. That said, the fans are warming up to the idea, and there were rumored negotiations between the franchises this past summer.

Blazers and Heat had animosity about the Lillard situation. I again hope this doesn’t stop a trade if one makes sense.

Blazers and Warriors had issues related to Gary Payton II, in which the Warriors complained to the league office and accused Portland of lying about medical stuff. Some assume this could be a barrier between current administrations.

Pardon my ignorance: I WAS watching basketball back then, but as a kid I was more of a "name on the front of the jersey over the one on the back" fan, and didn't follow trades too closely. WHAT exactly happened??? because I've seen that on this forum for a while now "x ammount of GLORIOUS years without a Laker trade", SOMETHING had to go bad...

I really don’t think it was one thing. Just many years of both being competitive teams meeting in the playoffs and the Lakers usually winning leading to Blazers fans disliking them. Blazers were one of the early teams to steal the “Beat L.A.” chant from Boston and I had a Beat L.A. sign in my bedroom window nearly my entire childhood. To find a more detailed account, I did a search and found this:

Anyone else?

The only trade ever between Heat and Knicks was Walter McCarty (pick) for Pat Riley (coach).

McCarty was a nice player. I always liked his game. But the two franchises hate each other, historically. Riley wanted control of the team. James Dolan didn't want to give it. Riley quit. The rest is history.

Atlanta and Orlando least likely.

Just old school rivalry, mostly fueled by Blazers fans hating the Lakers. Any potential trade with the Lakers the team also has to weigh PR issues with the fans, particularly if it is a fan favorite going to the C Lakers and making them better. There would have been a problematic amount of Blazers fans upset if they traded Lillard to the Lakers. I think part of the recent relaxed stance is the Blazers fans are really hoping to get rid of some guys (like Grant who was rumored to be in discussion to be traded to LAL) while not believing it pushes the Lakers into championship territory.

The same problems for the Kings (who haven’t traded with the Lakers since 1977).

I keep saying this when people bring up trade ideas with them.

Same division.

Same conference.

Long time hatred between fan bases.

Just not ever going to happen.

Yeah, I can definitely see the POV, especially with a few of those sketchy POR/LAL series in the Shaq & Kobe era. And I also enjoyed the link...

i don't know about teams they DON'T trade with (Presti seems willing to engage with just about anyone), but OKC deals with Chicago, Denver and Boston a fair bit. Boston and OKC in particular I think there's a relationship because they've done several "guy and top-55" money saving trades, so there seems to be a bit of quid pro quo.

If I remember right, San Antonio didn't want to trade Kawhi to the Lakers; that's one of the only hard stops in trade I can remember.

Kings had a reputation for cap incompetence a couple of years back but I think they're better now? But I think that turned off a few teams.

Mikal Bridges was the first Knicks-Nets trade in 41 years.
