Yeah it kind of makes a mockery of the records they broke considering the opposition.

The brother with 35 assists also had 15 rebounds so he had a triple double without scoring.

Per Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times, the score was 79-0 at halftime and Nicholas was pulled from the game late in the third quarter.

Mesrobian head coach Mike Gabriel told Sondheimer that Nick scored 102 points in just 22 minutes of game time.

:o

10+ rebs, 10+ assists… what’s the third 10+ to get the tripple-double?

Isn’t this a double-double without points?

13 steals + rebs and asts

What were the other 3 teammates on the court doing if one brother put up the majority of the shots and the other was getting assists, steals, and rebounds?

Right? I just picture them standing near midcourt most of the time and passing the ball to the assist bro as he runs by.

I do too, just sounds like college rec ball where you have a team full of guys with high level highschool experience, some college level ability vs the team with random guys who just wanted to play basketball. In rec ball though they had a mercy rule if it was +40 and past the 3rd quarter.

Is it really that impressive to run up the score against a team that doesn’t know to play? Just seems like gross stat padding and selfish ball to me. Move the ball, get your teammates involved.

Pretty much.

It's youth sports. Obviously, this was a planned gimmick against vastly inferior competition... and all that makes it a bit disturbing that the coach and possibly even the administration were down for this.

"Yeah! We get to promote this on social media!!!"

Nevermind that in doing so... we're marginalizing every other player in that game from both sides. The adults should know better.

So a couple of ball hogging kids decided to score a ton of points/assists on a high school team that probably had worse talent than a pick up game of middle schools at any rec center across the country.

Wow, so impressive. I can see why they got those stupid pictures with their "accomplishments" on it. Awesome sportsmanship there too, I'm totally impressed with the coaching of this school. They really have their priorities in order. They are definitely not a bunch of clowns or anything.

Its like when Lisa Leslie scored 101 points in 16 minutes.

The opposing team was a small school that only had 6 players on their entire roster. Their tallest player was 5'8". Lisa was 6'5". The high school format was 8 minute quarters. For the first two quarters, ever play consisted of her team giving Lisa the ball in the middle and she made an easy basket.

Lisa scored 101 points in the first half. The opposing coach was so mad, he sent his team to the bus at half time and refused to finish the game.

Is it really impressive that Lisa scored 101 points when she was 9 in taller than anyone else on the court playing against a team that had to beg girls to sign up for the team so they could field 6 players on their roster. I couldn't find any more data on the other team, but i thought i had heard that this was a team that didn't win a game all year long and averaged scoring less than 25 points a game.

I mean level of opposition is how most records get set.

Yea I watched the highlights as well and came away unimpressed. The scorer was just leaking out for fast breaks all game. The other team Basically let him do it, had no one covering safety which is pretty boneheaded basketball. The most impressive thing about it to me is his cardio.

The first thing I imagined was them both being 8 feet tall and one of them playing offense-only and one-defense only, and neither ever crossing half court.
