Thoughts or do we still have an issue with him being fat?!?

We'd be a better regular season team with Harden for sure. He can legitimately carry lineups in a way that PG can't as a creator. But it's fool's gold when things matter.

You could be critical of PGs playoff performances as well, or point to those 2 unexpected games where Harden straight up carries them over the Celtics. But he absolutely cratered them in their biggest games, and it's something he's done fairly consistently throughout his career. He's a heliocentric star that goes through stretches where he just doesn't even want the ball in his hands in big moments. And when you rely on it all year you can't recover when he doesn't show up.

Same has been true of Embiid to an extent, but it's just more magnified with Harden, particularly when you factor in the other end of the floor.

Very Accurate and he has never adapted his game enough to be able to play off the ball , very ball dominant .

So you rather keep PG than fat Harden?

Yes, I'd rather have PG on a team trying to win a title as the 3rd guy than Harden (whether fat or not). I imagine most teams would.

George can defend and play off the ball. He can be good in a winning system. I want no parts of Harden. When his shot is falling, he can single-handedly win games. When it’s not falling, he kills the offense and can’t defend. PG can fit in a number of roles. Just hasn’t been good in the star role this year with Embiid out.

You can't really compare PG and Harden now since Joel is not healthy at all. But ... Harden is part of the reason why Joel was reletively healthy in those three years ... just saying ...

George is the better option if Embiid can stay relatively healthy and Maxey takes the next step in his development.

However, if Embiid’s health holds up but Maxey doesn’t elevate his game, then Harden becomes the far better choice.

I think it ultimately doesn’t matter because Embiid’s knee is toast. There’s no viable path with any roster that is built around a center with arthritic knees.

Yet you constantly refer to Harden as a lazy choker when he was here and now PG is too overpaid?

What is going on here? And you like a Harden Stan or something? That's hard for me to conflate with being a Sixers fan.

People give you these measured takes about not being able to rely on him in big games and it's "yeah, but check out this cool pass"

You are right, being a choker defeats the purpose of winning a championship.

Trade Suggestion:

PHI In:
1) Cam Johnson
2) Ben Simmons

BKN In:
1) Paul George
2) K Mart
3) Andre Drummond
4) TBD Draft Picks

Why Philly: PG signing didn't work and gets out of his contract. Add some cap flexibility to allow us to resign Yabu next year. Cam's age is more in line w/ Philly core (Maxey, McCain, Yabu, etc.). BK while not a good team is a big market, and PG more than likely wouldn't mind spending his final seasons there.

Why BKN: Shut down PG for rest of year to continue tank. Add other injured expiring players AND draft capital. PG becomes one of the core pieces for the upcoming off-season.

PHI In:
1) Marcus Smart
2) Brandon Clarke
3) Luke Kennard
4) Santi Aldama

MEM In:
1) PG
2) Eric Gordon
3) TBD Draft Picks

Why PHI: Swap out PG Contract for depth and expirings. Smart gives playoff experiance and a defensive guard to pair with Maxey. Aldama gives shooting and MUCH needed size. Kennard swaps w/ Gordon. Clarke becomes added size/depth.

Why MEM: They take a swing at their playoff run this year by improving their starting 5 (Morant, Bane, PG, Jackson, Edey). Gordon and Kennard essentially swap roles.

Draft picks going the wrong way :reporter:

Ok, maybe not really. But I certainly wouldn't give up draft capital to get that done.

Depending on rumored buy-outs, one of the better win now type moves may be to get under the apron so that you could bring in someone making over the MLE (or whatever the mark is for that new buyout rule).

And yes, I'm saying this because I'm stupidly charmed by Ben Simmons saying nice things about us.

Seriously though, they might as well duck the tax again at this point. KJM for a min guy and Drummond for a 2nd, convert Edwards for 14 rostered, and I'm pretty sure they sneak under the tax again.

I wouldn’t take Ben Simmons even on a buyout basis.

Bogdan Bogdanovic's name is out there again. He's having a bad shooting season, but if you trust he's not starting to be cooked (he is 32 now), he'd be a helpful playmaking shooter that may not cost a lot in terms of assets.

Maybe something like KJ to Atlanta, Drummond/Gordon to different teams for 2nd round picks (going to Atlanta). Still need another minimum salary in there to work.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
