It could just end up being Miami-Phoenix-Chicago, they can make that trade work without us involved at all.

My issue with the Lavine trade would be that it would still take all the same pieces as the Jimmy trade sans the ‘31 1st (at least I hope the ‘31 first isn’t being talked about in this)
We’d have to give up Khris, Bobby, and Pat - two of those players are still very solid players, and one isn’t abhorrent.
We’d have very little ability to plug any of the holes that would absolutely remain with the roster. Any follow up trade would almost certainly have to include Brook.

I doubt Miami has much interest in Lavine because he's signed long term

Haynes basically shot down all the Beal stuff days ago and the subsequent rumors since then have proved they were never real (zero mention of us as an actual Beal destination these last few days). Phoenix is working overtime to get other teams involved here. We hold leverage because the Chicago part of this hinges on us wanting LaVine, but if that were the case then I don't see how this trade isn't done already. My only hope is that we're still trying to finagle a Jimmy trade for ourselves without forking over the 2031 1st, or at the very least, trying to get one of those Phoenix firsts if we actually want LaVine instead (ugh).
I proposed a deal earlier where we just help facilitate and get back Jacquez Jr and the Utah 2027 1st from Phoenix for small protection on the 2031 1st, Pat and Marjon to a 3rd, 4th and/or 5th team. So many moving parts to this I couldn’t figure out a way to make it work but I’d rather be involved in this way than be 1 of the teams eating a large salary for a questionable player at the sake of losing Khris and Bobby. I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around that even tho I’ve been hyper critical of Khris moving forward. Not even that I’m pining for Jacquez, he’s regressed already and might have reached his ceiling as just an average role player but he’s cheap and dumping Pat and Marjon gets us under the 2nd apron so I’d be fine as long as we get back 1 of those 1sts from Phoenix.

Not sure how exactly the picks would work in this 5-way LaVine scenario.
Maybe the Bucks are negotiating to get Ryan Dunn without having to give up our 2031 first -- or we'd be converting that into multiple assets as part of this.
Either way here's a scenario that'd work contractually at least. Bucks would need a rim runner still afterwards but we'd have an open roster spot and/or Delon Wright (not to mention whatever draft assets we'd have left) to fill it.
___
Bucks trade: Bobby, Khris, Pat, MarJon in a technically separate deal
Bucks receive: LaVine, Dunn in a technically separate deal
Heat trade: Jimmy, Alec Burks via minimum
Heat receive: Bobby, Bruce Brown, Chris Boucher (probably waive him), Suns first
Raptors trade: Brown, Boucher
Raptors receive: Middleton, Pat, Suns first
Bulls trade: Beal
Bulls receive: LaVine, Suns first
Suns trade: Beal, Dunn, firsts
Suns receive: Jimmy, MarJon in a technically separate deal, Alec Burks via minimum
____
PG: Dame, AJ Green
SG: LaVine, GTJ
SF: Dunn, Ajax
PF: Giannis, Prince
C: Brook, rim runner TBD

Ryan Dunn wouldn’t be the starter. It would still be Ajax and Lavine. Everyone concerned with Khris being impactful come playoff time and we’re banking on a rookie to play meaningful minutes? I kinda hate that idea. Probably good long term tho. Trent and Lavine would have to do some serious heavy lifting in the playoffs and Tauren Prince playing a small ball 4 makes me rather uneasy too. I hope there’s a better plan if the goal really is a championship this season. That playoff roster looks kinda poopy from my pov.

Nuggets reportedly have been looking at him but idk how much swapping MPJ for him really does.
The holdup in the Lavine to the Nuggets deal was Chicago wouldn't take the Zeke Nnaji contract.

Hmm if that holds then the Bucks' leverage would be dependent on how much Miami would value what MPJ could yield from a team who'd also be willing to take Zeke.

These are all fair points!
If the Bucks feel like we'd need another vet forward instead of or in addition to Dunn that seems solvable. He's the best defender I could think of who we could theoretically acquire is where the idea came from.
I've also been trying to find a way where we could get a big man to fill that void but not sure Boucher or Love or anyone from this combo of teams would move the needle. That's where I think it might just be a separate transaction.

Unless Lavine can play SF, zero interest. The Bucks actually get decent production at SG from AJG and Trent. What they need is a starting SF and/or a PF to unlock Giannis at center lineups. Bobby’s D is too awful to be that guy in the playoffs.

After watching the Dame/Beasley backcourt pairing get shredded last year defensively I really have no interest in a Dame/Lavine backcourt pairing. It’s diminishing returns for offense we don’t really need another high usage guy. However it’s potentially crippling to the perimeter defense.
I just don’t see it as a net positive I’d prefer to hope a miracle happens and hope Middleton remains healthy for the playoff run in his limited role.

I think you could get by with LaVine at the wing. He had a few seasons with the Bulls where he averaged more minutes at SF than SG. I'd prefer to keep Ajax in the lineup for his defense if they go that route and let him continue to bother the opposing team's best perimeter player and hope that LaVine can hold his own defensively against bigger wings.

I agree, but don't know who this is unfortunately outside of He Whom I Don't Want. 26 year old Khris would have been perfect but alas.

I'm guessing Zeke goes to Phoenix in this deal, fitting into Grayson's salary slot, and he goes to Toronto, a long with MPJ. Miami gets a poo poo platter from Toronto, including Bruce Brown.
Bucks not in to the deal.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Trade Deadline 2/6/25 - 2:00 p.m. CDT
In the modern NBA, to be a contender it starts with having a top 2 worth a damn, and then there’s basically two methodologies for the remaining top section of the roster:
1) Fill the roster in with versatile capable high-end depth (see 2020 Lakers, probably 2023 Nuggets)
Or
2) Bring in a high-level 3rd option to form a big 3 (see 2021 Bucks)
I think we have a top 2 worth a damn, and we’ve pretty much always tried to form that big 3, but maybe it’s time to swing the other direction. Jimmy, to me, is the only player where the big 3 option makes sense, but Lavine, Beal, probably Ingram all seem like a sizable step down from where we’d need to be.
We should explore option 1 above, and bring that high level depth - players with a more versatile skillset than we’ve had on our roster that can do some shooting, defending, self-creating in a pinch, but just not up to the standards of a third option.
Basically, id rather turn our dudes into Wiggins and Cam Johnson than just Lavine. At that point you’re adding two dudes who are solid defenders, who are more versatile than the wings we’ve thrown out there over the past few years (Grayson, Wes, Prince, Trent, etc).
There also may be more options available who fit this scenario.

You don't need to convince me on who LaVine is. He's not exactly the player I'd be targeting for this team, but with the options the Bucks do have, they may just be weighing having a player that gives them any type of production (LaVine), vs a player who might not make it to the playoffs if their body erodes (Khris).

Just stick with Jimmy without touching that 2031 FRP.
Dame (40)/Trent (8)
Green (24)/Trent (16)/AJJ (8)
Jimmy (40)/AJJ (8)
Giannis (24)/Prince (24)
Lopez (32)/Giannis (16)
There’s your playoff rotation. Sign Rollins as 9th. Give some RS minutes to Smith and Livingston to see if there is something there.

This entire deal gets easier if Toronto just takes Lavine. I think they would. Then there's enough room for the Bucks to slip in here and send Bobby to Miami for 1 of the Suns 1sts.

I wonder if we could pull off something similar to the Phoenix Utah trade with the Thunder?
Swap Portis and the 31 first for Aaron Wiggins and 3 future firsts.
Then turn around and send Middleton and two firsts to the Nets for Cam Johnson and Dayron Sharpe.
All in all we swap Middleton and Portis for Wiggins, Cam Johnson, and Sharpe while keeping one of OKC's future firsts.
Dame/Rollins
Green/GTJ
Johnson/Wiggins/Ajax
Giannis/Prince
Brook/Sharpe
Johnson opens up a bunch of small ball lineups as well if him and Prince are both on the floor as undersized 4s.
