Josh Harris: Sixers Built Elite Team; To Take A Few Weeks To Evaluate Path For Rest Of Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:46 pm

The Philadelphia 76ers season hasn't gone according to plan. But the team isn't ready to punt on this season yet. Sixers leadership still thinks they have an elite team when healthy.

"I would say that, again, we always start with trying to build elite teams," 76ers governor Josh Harris told The Athletic. "We started this season with two potential Hall of Famers, and one All-Star. We were very excited about the season. Obviously, it’s been a disappointing season. No one’s happy with where we are. We’re not happy. I go to a lot of games. We want to be winning and creating the contending team that we’ve had over the last five years. The injuries haven’t helped us. The elite team we had hasn’t been on the court more than seven games, where they started and finished the game. We won six of seven of those. I think we got it right.

"But what’s happened is, obviously, Joel hasn’t played a lot. He’s the lynchpin of the whole thing. When he doesn’t play, the pressure comes on Paul, and it comes on Tyrese. And Tyrese has had to carry a lot of the load, and, in some cases, Paul has had to carry a lot of the load. And people have had to do things that they weren’t necessarily prepared for."

Harris also said that the team will take a few more weeks to figure out their direction for the remainder of the season.

"So, the next few weeks are important, what happens there," Harris said. "We’re going to see what happens there and make a good decision. And we’ll audible at that point, and we’ll find the right spot. We have a great front office. Nick Nurse won an NBA title. Unfortunately, we ran into that that year. Daryl (Morey) and Elton (Brand) are good at what they do. We’re honest. Give us a few weeks to answer that question. We’re going to react to that.”

Kyle Lowry is getting into the Hall of Fame for sure.

I wonder who the other player he was referencing ?

Put some damn respect on Lowry's name 76ers ownership!

PG has 9 all stars 6 all nba 4 all defense selections and finished third in mvp voting. If he retired today he would get in on his first try.

Also, it's not a HOF-worthy Kyle Lowry on this Sixers squad, just a faint shadow of his former self mostly in street clothes

Prob the saddest truth in years. The only way that guy should be in the HoF, is if he paid the $29.99 entry fee at the front.

His greatest contribution to "the game of basketball" was creating the OKC dominance we're beginning to witness, in that trade. He should take partial credit for that. Other than that??? You could write a 1000-page book on the NBA from 1976 (when NBA and ABA merged) to present, and not mention his name once.....except you might throw his name in talking about the trade that began the Thunder's dominance...(if you were writing said book 4-5 years from now).

Kyle could have a sentence in that book, about how he got traded from the Raptors, and THE VERY NEXT YEAR they won. I mean seriously...it could be a 2000 page book, and nobody would notice either player's omission.

How is this team elite again? 17-27...and build of glass. Maybe we put this team in the HoF? Why not, right?

What are you talking about? Lowry has the ring with Raptors, played there for two more years after it.

The Sixers built a paper tiger.

Yep...your correct. My bad. I confused him and DeRozan. Good on him.

Equally inconsequential to the NBA? Would be my guess. I mean...good on Lowry for getting a ring, but we all know the two people who got that ring (Kawhi, and Lebron for leaving the East).

If you actually believe Lowry had no hand in helping Kawhi and the Raps get that ring then I now understand why you made that statement, and there's really no more need to continue this conversation with you. Good day.
