Jimmy makes >$500k a game and is willing to lose $3-400k on this suspension per game. I have no sympathy for him. All he had to do is show up and not try to sabotage the team or chemistry. This is embarrassing.. for Jimmy.

And jimmy is going to get his money eventually when the NBPA files a grievance anyway, Ben simmons straight up refused to play or practice and he got his money.

You don't know that they've documented his behaviour. This won't affect Miami only Jimmy loses here.

How so? Holding someone accountable is an embarrassment?

you think that's what they're doing?

i mean, demoting him to start Highsmith is a move designed to piss Jimmy off so that he'd do something excatly like the one he did (walk out of practice) and allow them to suspend him and not pay him

that was their purpose, they knew that Jimmy won't take it sitting down, they're just f'ing with him at this point,no?
that has nothing to do with "keeping him accountable"

think about it like this: if his conduct in practice and in team activities is detrimental to the team and unprofessional then he shouldn't be on the active roster at all, either DNPCD or suspend him for a couple more games but demoting him to the bench? nah..that's done specifically to humilate him and elicit a reaction from him, so they'd get a cause for witholding more pay

maybe if they had some interesting rookie to start in his place, they could justify it but putting their future interests first but Highsmith over Jimmy? that's not a basketball related decision, srry

There’s no way Jimmy doesn’t pick up a 52 million dollar option. He’ll just try to get traded again. AFTER getting his money.

Uh huh, sure.

Except all Butler has to do to leave the plantation is play out the contract he voluntarily signed. Or retire.

Miami has one advantage here. It is a destination city. A Utah or OKC doing this could screw them, but players want to play there.

no doubt, they knew he would react and he was dumb enough to fall for it

only problem is, today's entitled players don't wanna go play for an organization that does it's players like that. not saying other orgs are different but they're not doing themselves any favors being in the spotlight squabbling with their star, it's straight up pettiness and not a good look. there are no winners in this fiasco, only losers

wtf is wrong with you man. People feeling like this is a huge part of what’s wrong with society today.

Only in a country that is so privileged would someone bring up “plantation owner” and a player being “personal property” when the guy is getting paid 50 million a year to play basketball. Gtfo of here

Or quietly ask for a trade, give a list of cities (multiple!!!) he'd like to go to, and NOT TANK HIS DAMNED VALUE!

I don't think Miami will have trouble attracting FAs. Unless they move to Des Moines.

Think about it like this - they've started him in every game he's played this year, and in the past five or six, since he came back from "illness" he's refused to play defense or hustle and has been shooting one legged 3s. He hasn't earned the start! He's been dogging it IN GAMES! There is nothing more insulting to Jimmy as a player, then Jimmy playing like ass, intentionally!

It seems the definition of slavery has expanded to people who make millions of dollars a year and can leave their job if they want to.

Jimmy is beyond financially set for life, he's less of a slave to anything than 99%+ of people on earth.

idk, they'e failed to sign any of their FA targets in the past couple of years and failed to attract the superstars they were going for (Mitchell, Dame etc.). obviously Miami is Miami but I think their appeal now is considerably lower than it was say ten years ago and part of that is the dreaded "Heat culture" imo. players don't wanna work hard and be held accountable nowadays, that's what happens when guys get life changing money on their rookie contracts and get generational wealth (100M+) on their rookie extentions..

You sure do love posting about it over and over don’t you. Guess your Dame package not bringing enough joy to move on? Jimmy can be a free agent in 3 months. He can go to his desired destination then if he wants. Miami isn’t holding him hostage or fooling him with false promises.

Yup, cope more.
