Precious and Bridges amping up the defense does work wonders

I am liking it when the team goes after the Point of Attack, though with Jokic that's a different strategy I think KAT will be up for

Kat take matchups seriously. Does not look outmatched against Star centers.

KAT's natural defensive ability is man defense which makes him a good fit vs. Jokic.

He's not a guy who can seal the paint, but he can play man defense at the top of the key where Jokic likes to set up pretty well actually. We even saw him lock down Trae for a couple of plays which was entertaining.

Knicks are getting more rest between games AND Thibs with a better minutes distribution. This bodes well for the next couple home games. No back to backs and 2 nights off before playing Lakers.

Very different scenario from iHart.

Yeah, we have his bird rights, I think if he's on the team after the deadline we resign him. He's valuable IMO, his ability to guard in the paint and on the perimeter is important.

Honestly after seeing him benched last postseason then seeing him not re-signed almost a month into free agency he didn't seem like much of a priority to the team. I thought they were just looking for someone else to take the $5.2M taxpayer MLE and would offer Precious whatever was left under the apron but when they couldn't find any takers they just gave Precious a 1 year deal where he had to waive his no-trade clause basically making him a human trade $6M trade exemption they could use to get someone they really wanted.

Maybe that was never the plan or maybe the plan changed after they got KAT. I think the numbers show the team is performing well with him at the 4 next to KAT at the 5 but not so well with Precious at the 5. Maybe it is the lack of size or rebounding. I don't know. He was in Thibs trust circle last February too but out of the rotation by the end of the year. I'm curious how Thibs will use him if and when Mitch returns.

We have 10, well about to be 9 days till the trade deadline. I don't think they can move him even if they really wanted to because of the fact Mitch isn't back, and you realistically can't rely on him to be healthy.

Last season when Mitch came back he pretty much stopped giving Precious a lot of minutes, he went from starting and putting up numbers to being a bench guy, that was exacerbated by Hart moving into the starting 4 spot too. That's also the weird thing, last season as a starter next to Ihart he was averaging just under 10rpg, so I expected to see him with KAT a lot more. I think we're seeing him more with KAT recently, because I do think Tom is going to go with Mitch/KAT frontcourt at times.

I think they have to make a decision on Precious vs Mitch, because if Precious does get an offer, I think it'll be similar to Jared Vanderbilt's.

Bye Mitch!

So predictable

We called it, if the bench plays well "He's a genius" if the bench doesn't play well "The bench sucks". You didn't want to hear about the bench having a positive net rating, all they needed was more minutes.

They are all still playing their season average in minutes

They just happen to be healthy together for the first time all year but they are all playing what they have been all year just doing a better job of not sucking

I was a little concerned when Thibs put all 4 bench guys out there at the same time in the 1st quarter with KAT but i'm proud of Thibs for not immediately panicking and yanking them when Grizzlies went on a mini-run. I was also happy when he got Mikal out there in place of Shamet at the start of the 2nd after the Grizzlies cut the Knicks' 13 point lead down to 3 to give that group a little more size and playmaking. I don't care if we lose those minutes from time to time as long as the starters get some rest.

I remember in his Chicago days he would run 4 bench guys with Deng and then all 5 bench guys. It worked because their defense was so good but I wouldn't mind him mixing matching the bench players with the starters depending on the situation. Credit to Thibs for playing the bench in both halves. Now I would like to see what he does if the game is close in the 2nd half.

The FO may have crapped the bed there. They could have locked him up on a reasonable deal, but he could walk to the highest bidder next season

The difference is Precious is from New York so he might actually give the Knicks a reasonable deal, as long as he doesn't play so well in the postseason that another team offers him a ton of money.

The 4 guys off the bench were never healthy together until just recently so nobody who was available got added to the rotation. It was always the same. They all got the exact opportunities they always had when they were healthy and available. Nothing changed except they just got healthy.

But this isn’t even your bench, your bench is the rookies that you kept crying about.

Anyway I’m sure deep down you were angry the Grizz coach lost to Thibs. But we eating good tonight though
