Still kind of like this. Opens a roster spot for Rollins and could add Nassir Little (former teammate of Dame and Trent). Gives us depth behind Lopez and more ball movement/smart passing off the bench in Zach (also former teammate of Dame and Trent). Plus another wing that can shoot under contract for cheap for a few years

Was once a pretty big fan of Collins. Whether from injury or not developing, dude sucks.

His splits over the last three years are interesting. The few games that I’ve seen the last two years he has struggled a bit defensively but he has also been on the floor with guys that have very little experience. This year he has been an afterthought as they work on developing the young guys. Anyway, I think he raises our team bbiq on both ends of the floor, improves our efficiency, and makes the game easier for others. I get that the return is a little underwhelming but that makes me think it could get us under the second apron a little cheaper than having to give a team a pick to eat a contract.

Zach Collins has been completely excised from the rotation of a 20-23 basketball team. No thanks. Bassey is the dude I think could give you a solid 10-15 minutes when Giannis sits.

Windy:
I am not saying this is for sure gonna happen. I am not predicting what’s gonna happen. But, I do think some teams that thought they were out of this are coming back in because it doesn’t look like the Suns and Heat are gonna be able to consummate a deal. I think we might see a team swoop in here and get Jimmy Butler at a cheap price — a guy who can be the best player in a playoff series at a bargain price. And I think that’s the phase of this where we’re at. If a team pulls this off, and I'm not going to tell you the teams that are trying, I'm not going to wade into those waters. This could be a trade that affects the outcome of this season.

Precursor to a bigger move, but if the Jazz really wanna keep consolidating picks and stocking up on 2031 firsts...

MIL Out: Pat, Marjon, 2031 1st unprotected, 2031 2nd
MIL In: Drew Eubanks, lesser of UTA/CLE/MIN 2026 1st, 2028 CLE 1st unprotected

Utah gambles on the further out 1st and we dump enough salary to get below the 2nd apron. Maybe they'd need to get Cleveland involved to slap some protection on the pick, but shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm very against that. We're getting less than Phoenix for our pick, when ours is the one that's much more likely to yield a blue-chip prospect. And we have no realistic way of getting better at that point, unlike Phoenix in FA.

We either got to keep the pick or trade for a piece that could make us good until around that time.

Cleveland won't want their pick protected, that blocks them from trading other picks. I don't like this so far, but tell what you're trading Bobby and 2-1sts for?

I don’t think we are moving Midds. I think it will be a small move with Pat C and that’s it.

While I think "a 2031 unprotected 1st is worth three lesser firsts" is the new narrative that people are gonna run with, all firsts aren't equal here. I think that 2028 Cleveland pick holds a lot of value still. This just lets you split up the pick so that it's not "all or nothing" when we inevitably make our big deadline move. You'd still have an extra first (2026 CLE/MIN/UTA pick) in your back pocket this offseason.

This is the response I received from the last thread on why the Bucks would take on Lavine's contract:

"LaVine’s deal is one year longer than Khris, and if your argument is it will be easier to trade an expiring Khris in 25/26 the same argument could be applied to an expiring LaVine in 26/27. He’s on the back end of his deal.

LaVine is a good player right now. He’s overpaid, but you can live with an overpaid good player."

I just don't see the owners taking on 2 and a half more seasons of Lavine at his price. It would handcuff the Bucks to do anything for three years. That would be 3 players each making 50 million a year. Not going to happen.

Getting under the 2nd apron is probably the goal, the penalties are just going to get worse it really is crippling. I want the NBA to rescind these rules next CBA, punishing teams for paying players and wanting to win.

I don't think it's going to be the goal, at the expense of winning this season or making a huge difference in the future, meaning we concede our '31 1st to just get under the apron.

I think we're talking about unloading Bobby and/or Pat, maybe w/ a 2nd &/or Tyler Smith attached, for a cheaper athletic big who's not perceived us good but projects to help us more ala Larry Nance, Jalen Smith, etc.

2031 first (without us getting multiple firsts in return) hopefully is off the table with any Jimmy scenarios per Windy’s latest on the price going down.

LaVine I think the Bucks only pursue as a consolidation deal (we’d have to duck the 2nd apron first) rather than if we’d have to dedicate a significant draft pick for him. Yes we’d be paying 3 guys max money but we wouldn’t be on the hook for any other big much less bad contracts.

Khris + Bobby is a good package. Pat doesn’t seem like he’d be so expensive to drop the 2nd apron either. Or we keep them but still dump Pat.

2031 first full value I think we might only offer as part of a package for Cam Johnson. Not sure if there’s any other combo of a clearly great fit on a great contact young enough to play with us for years to come.

Ok, if we can do Jimmy without giving up the pick it changes the calculus for me a bit. It's not my money; if they wanna pay him, sure I guess.

I was a huge, huge Collins fan coming out of Gonzaga. Obviously missing most of 3 consecutive years changed his trajectory, but I think the big thing people are missing about his on-offs is that he's coming off the Spurs bench, and specifically is backing up Wemby. He literally hasn't played with Wemby this season and not much last year, either.

You could definitely argue (I would) that Champagnie is the prize here. I like him a lot.

IMO this would be a solid solution for the lux tax issue, but I don't see the Spurs being interested.
