Williams
Giddey
for
Holmes
Bagley
For the Bulls its they made a mistake paying Williams and shouldn't repeat it with Giddey so use Giddey to unload Williams. Continue to clear house and start fresh.
For the Wizards its just free young talent. Giddey makes sense next to Poole as he has size and the playmaking chops that don't come natural to Poole who can now focus on scoring. Williams frees up a Kuzma trade and even though he's not lived up to his hype he does defend and make open 3's.

Re: Bulls/Wizards inspired by Yay
I think this is a bad idea for Washington personally. Imo if they really like giddey they can sign him to an offer sheet and Chicago is unlikely to match if they dont like him as implied in OP.
They should stay away from patrick williams contract and better use their cap space elsewhere to accumulate more assets

Re: Bulls/Wizards inspired by Yay
Bulls have a ton of good guards in LaVine, White, Ayo, and Ball. Josh Giddey has started in all 42 games he has played. If they weren't high on him, they probably wouldn't have done that.
He has some big limitations, but he's played fairly well for them. They're getting elite passing and rebounding (for a guard) out of him. I think that's enough for them to bring him back for a longer look, and I'm okay with that unless he's getting some absurd contract.
The Bulls have made too many mistakes to use an asset (and Giddey is still that) to get rid of Pat. They're not in a position to be major FA players as currently constructed. I'd want Pat moved, but not like this. Eventually, he'll play better than he's currently playing and when he does he'll be easier to move.

No thanks, as much as I want Williams gone I'm not using Giddey to get it done.
He played decently tonight off the bench so I'd rather see how that goes before resorting to attaching things to get rid of him.

For Washington, sure. They aren't a FA destination by any stretch of the idea so their cap space won't matter for at least 2 years, more likely 3-4. This is more talent than they are likely to get in any other BOYD situations so they should take this then see if they can make it fit together.

Re: Bulls/Wizards inspired by Yay
I don't think Karnasovas believes he made a mistake resigning Williams. It's just one game but they did beat the Nuggets with him coming off the bench and looking more engaged when he didn't have to stand back for Lavine and Vucevic. To me he resigned Williams seeing that potential and figuring he would be trading both veterans, as he had Caruso and DeRozan for more team centric players.
Bagley and Homes are guaranteed one and done, which is fine but even if they're FA cap space in the summer, what's to come from any potential Lavine and Vucevic trades that nets usable future pieces? Are there this summer FAs who want to come and help the Bulls?

It's a talent upgrade just for some cap space the Wizards don't otherwise need so I'm not opposed to it. But I would be looking to forward Giddey along in a SnT rather than consider him a piece of the rebuild.

I have never been a fan of Giddey and still pissed OKC was able to somehow turn him into Caruso. But is his value really this low?

Re: Bulls/Wizards inspired by Yay
I like this trade for both teams.
Bulls - I am happy to get rid of Giddy and not to give him a big new contract plus he frees up PWill's money as well.
This trade helps us do the 2 things we should be focused on clear time for young players (ayo/matas/terry) and clear up cap space over the next 1-2 years. Bagley is 12.5m expiring who maybe you can resign cheap for a 1-2yr deal as depth and Holmes
can be the backup 5 when we deal Vuc and is 12.6 this year, 12.7 next then expires.
Wizards - Giddy can help the young players develop by helping lead the offense while not killing the tank because of his
bad defense. Williams can be a nice 3 and D option will needs a change of scenery and can form a nice combo with Coulibaly/Sarr/draft pick.

Re: Bulls/Wizards inspired by Yay
This is a move that makes sense logically, but I'm thinking about the PR angle of this. Could they really trade valuable young player they framed Giddey as the prize back for Caruso, just to salary dump their former high prospect in Williams? Maybe they could sell it as: "Were getting back a former #2 pick in Bagley who has some frontcourt potential, " lol.
But in my original trade the other day, they could at least sell prime Ingram to pair with Lavine as the return for these young prospects.
