If he violates the terms of his parole, he's going back immediately. I was giving him a pass mostly early this season with the injuries but, he certainly could have used the rookies more when Precious/Shamet weren't around. He was absolutely running guys ragged. Hopefully he keeps this up. I like winning. It validates our complaints!!

Exactly. Thibs made adjustments but some want to act like there was never a problem.

He improved and adjusted. That’s the point more patient and mature posters were making. The title of the thread speaks to how full of sheit some of y’all are. Own the impetuousness and impatience. The backtracking is disgusting

I think Fat Kat, a lot of fans/ posters are impatient because it can’t take a half season to adjust. It risks injury and further burnout. I think that’s why fans are so impatient because we could have gotten more W’s had he changed his stripes earlier. Again this is VERY early, as its only been 4 games, but he has adjusted.

Because patience is important, especially when dealing with a former COY. And he will be around for a while

We're headed for a 2nd round matchup with the Celtics, does anyone really believe he's going to out coach Mazzulla? In order to beat that team we're going to need him to think outside the box, play zone, mix up matchups etc. It's not happening if both teams are healthy.

Thibs is garbage. His offense doesn't exist and his defense doesn't work in today's NBA. Trash on trash on trash.

I disagree

I think you'd need a large sample size to come to that conclusion.

- Randle struggles seems to be related to his mental lows mixed in with an overall slump.
- Donte has had a pretty good January and it's no coincidence it happens to be when he was inserted into the starting lineup.
- Obi isn't trailblazing, but it seems like he's a net-positive since the trade.
- Grimes seems to be bouncing back from a horrible season in Detroit.

If Thibs wasn't such a dinosaur we'd be averaging 140 per game instead of just hitting it occasionally

Don't forget, RJ is also having a career year under a new coach

Thibs is a solid coach overall. He gets you regular season wins.

If he's a great coach then his impact will be clearly seen in the playoffs. A great coach takes this elite roster to the finals. If we underperform in the postseason, then I remain a Thibs skeptic.

So, Riley sucked because he couldn't deliver the championship to NYC in the 90s?

He didn't deliver the championship while possessing a very talented team, in NYC. Therefore, at least by NYC standards, not a good coach, even though he delivered in LA earlier and Miami after.

Coach RAPM from 1997 - 2024

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OLzsAB_NhknLaPoTuBSbhhG6ygoWSVsDya12wG9eL7Q/edit?gid=0#gid=0

What does any of that mean? I don't know but apparently Thibs is really good, the Van Gundy coaching tree is top notch, Pop and Spo are a bit overrated and maybe the Knicks should have held on to Hornacek.

Did Riley get that very talented team to the finals as a head coach?

I think the Knicks have the most talented roster in the east. We have 2 clear All-Star talents and 1 who should be an All-Star, while Mikal and OG are not far behind.

But a fully healthy Thunder would be really...really tough to beat in the finals.
