That sounded more like the Warriors to me, despite how much they try to play it off like they're not interested.

I actually don't think we're some desperate team in need of a Hail Mary tbh. Since the awful 2-8 start we are 25-10, 7th in net rating, top 10 on both ends and 5th on defense. There are things to tweak/upgrade but we do not *need* someone on the level of Jimmy.

We shouldn't do nothing at the trade deadline, but if our trade deadline ends up being a couple smaller to mid sized moves like dumping Pat to get under the 2nd apron, converting Rollins to a standard contract, and flipping Bobby + stuff for a tough defensive SF/PF to really make Giannis at the 5 lineups more viable, I'd feel pretty good.

Yeah there's no way Bobby Marks isn't smoking crack with some of those trade ideas.

I really don't think he's trying to hint at one team in particular, but we definitely fit the description of what he's talking about. Whether or not you want to split hairs over the middle of the pack comment, the match is that we are an older team and we are not at the top of the contender list anymore.

But then you talk about "hail mary." That is less us and much more Golden State.

I feel like that's where he's going to be honest

Maybe I'm being naïve, but I think you have that convo with him before you trade for him. If you don't extend him he understands that going in and is ultra motivated to 1) stick it to Miami and 2) prove he's worth the money he wants.

At least that's how I'm going to sell it to myself...

Those trades make the posters here look like geniuses and that's not a compliment to the posters.

Marks doesn't understand that the teams that have Butler, Lavine and Beal want to get rid of them. They aren't in the driver's seat.

Every one of those three have big baggage:

Butler-his attitude and demands
Beal-he's bad
Lavine-untenable contract

The only leverage Miami may have is if teams start bidding on Butler. I want no part of that.

Mids has some problems this year but Kuzma has been flat out hot garbage. Why are we the ones giving up a pick in that scenario

Obviously the guy has a checkered past, but would we be intrigued by Middleton for Miles Bridges? And keep Bobby under that scenario?

I can't even begin to understand how out-of-touch Marks is with the current value on all of those dudes. Kyle Kuzma having the worst year of his career. Zach LaVine magically turning into a positive trade asset the second we're linked to him, even after Marks himself was told last month by a front office source how bad it is:

ESPN's Bobby Marks spoke to one team that said LaVine's contract with the Bulls will likely prevent it and most other teams around the league from pursuing him in a trade.

"If we were operating under the 2017 CBA and there were no apron rules, I could make a case to my owner on LaVine," the team told Marks. "But his salary boxes you into a corner on how we can add to the roster."

And a violent woman-beater putting up trash stats on a lottery team after literally no one wanted to touch him with a 10-foot pole just 12-months ago? Dude is absolutely clueless if he thinks we should be the ones giving up a draft pick for any of those trash contracts.

Sacramento could definitely use a savvy vet with championship winning experience. :)

Is there a Dame for Fox trade that makes sense?

Yeah my bat signal went off. I'm not sure how we would pull it off, though. I'm not trading Dame with how he and Giannis have been cooking.

There is no trade for Fox, you don't trade Dame for him and he doesn't fit with Dame. Fox being available might make Butler even less valuable though lol.

Spurs or Rockets seem like a good fit for Fox, at least would be interested and have more than enough assets to get a deal done.

Just about the only Dame proposal that I was interested earlier in the season was:

Dame for Fox and Murray

But at this point, I wouldn’t do that deal.

For the sake of revamping the team to still compete this year, you could do the above, and the Khris stuff we’ve been talking about:

Khris and bobby to Miami for Jimmy

Pat, marjon and the ‘31st to some team to get a younger center (maybe Duren)

Fox Rollins
Green Trent
Jimmy Prince Dre
Giannis Murray
Brook Duren

Team probably lacks too much shooting though.

Marks is positively terrible at trade analysis. It's no wonder he can't find an NBA gig.
