I really was never about Beal to me, it was what compensation we'd get to take him. The "3 picks" would probably have got me there. I feel like we wouldn't have actually needed to use them, but instead, use them as trade assets. IMO, the whole first round pick trade currency is often about the headline benefit for GM's to use as cover for getting rid of good players, the actual pick #'s often get lost in the details.

As a millionaire, if you wanted to, you'd never have to spend more than 30 seconds outside at any given time. Are these players that much of outdoor enthusiasts?
Exactly using cold weather as an excuse is bs. First of all basketball isn’t played outdoors, his work is inside where it’s nice and warm.
Then they travel all the time anyway, half the games home half away traveling the country. After around June they are free until September to be wherever the hell they want.
Besides professional basketball players don’t play in the NBA for their whole lives, most are done by mid 30s.Thats why makes no sense why these players car so much about hot weather when it’s just temporary.
Most people work indoors yet prefer warm climates. Have you looked at the past couple of decades of US migration patterns?
Trying to deny that people prefer nice weather is really something.
Most people aren’t professional sports players. Were talking about them specifically.

We don’t know any details at all, we don’t even know if AK actually wanted to do this or not.
As far as we know they were just talking but Beal put a stop to all of this quickly and now they can’t even talk anymore lol.
I do agree if 3 first round picks were involved ofcourse you have to consider it since the bulls lack picks and will probably lose their own either this year or within the next 2-3 years for sure.
Any Vuc or Zach trade will have to have picks involved and knowing AK he probably wants a decent player in return as well.

well, if you're talking about people moving south and southwest, it would be wrong to say it's due to the nice weather. people aren't leaving california for arizona because of the weather. people aren't leaving chicago for georgia because of the peaches.

I think the difference in terms of weather between NBA players and regular people is that NBA players usually have women who look better in "warm weather outfits" than regular people.

it's not like the girls in chicago dress any differently if it's 70 degrees or -10

Do professional sports players have less affinity for nice weather than other people?
Yes because of the reasons I listed earlier. It’s temporary and they are not even there all the time.
Look at Zach for example, come offseason that dude goes straight to his LA mansion and doesn’t come back for 3-4 months. Not sure if that’s weather related but thats what they all do if they really don’t like the place where their playing at.
Now if the players family has a problem with the weather then that’s a whole different story. Players themselves shouldn’t care about weather during the season. And did I mention they make millions to play a sport? They are fine no matter the weather lol.

I'm not arguing that players should care about the weather. It's fine with me if you think "they make millions of dollars and should suck it up." What I'm arguing is simply that players (or at least some of them) do care about the weather, which seems fairly obvious.
In the specific case of Beal, it's pretty understandable. He's on his last huge deal, has a NTC, and if his view is "screw it, I'm not leaving Arizona to go spend a few winters in Chicago," that seems fairly unsurprising.
It's not that Chicago can't overcome it - it's a big market and if it had a good team, it would probably be an attractive destination, but it's pretty obvious that the perception that Chicago has brutal winters makes it less appealing to a decent chunk of NBA players. Pau Gasol may have loved it here due to Chicago great opera scene, but I think he may have been a wee bit of an outlier in that regard.
In reality, though, it's not going to matter that often, as most players are just going to go wherever they are drafted and/or wherever they'll make the most money. But Beal doesn't have to worry about that stuff given his situation.

Oh to be in my early 20s in the city again. Shivering with no coat (to save the $3 coat check) and an obnoxious Express button up half tucked in waiting to get into Wrigleyville party bars. Girls in line wearing miniskirts in February. Every sentence uttered has at least one "Bro!" and at least one of the girls in our group is definitely going to be crying at some point. I can taste the SoCo Limes now.

That was exactly the point as well as the draft picks, it's a tank move.

Insanely wealthy NBA players usually don't. The Knicks are a premier destination with weather as cold as Chicago, so is Boston. Charlotte NC has great weather & beaches, it's not a FA destination. The entire argument about weather & better looking women for a team destination seems based on how normal people live and a bit out of touch with how NBA players live their lives. I worked with an MVP candidate (never MVP) for a sponsorship deal. His team was a cold weather city. It was mostly irrelevant because
- during the season, they travel 50% of the time anyway
- offseason (which is most of the year) he went one of his many homes in Maui, Florida, etc..
- while traveling his women were flown to the visiting team city anyway, it's not like he has to go out partying in that town to pick up a woman
It matters to Beal apparently, or it could be just nonsense and Beal just vetoed the deal because Chicago isn't a contender which is what he always said he'd do.

Long way of saying I don't want Beal and would have to be overly enticed with whatever else comes back to the Bulls.
Ware is probably just as untouchable as Matas is for us.

Yeah, I think Ware has played himself out of any conversation of being included in a trade.
Here to argue about nonsensical things and suck away your joy.

I don’t agree that the Knicks are a premier market. 40 years of history demonstrates this. But even if they were, it would be a function of being the biggest market in the US.
Boston has also not traditionally been a FA powerhouse.
In any event, I’m not saying it’s the biggest factor - it’s probably something like 1) money, 2) money, 3) money, 4) is the team good, and then somewhere later on the list is weather, but weather is obviously a factor somewhere in there.

Thank God Beal rejected Chicago....that would've been a terrible decision! I hate Zach and think he is by far the worst "star" I've ever seen but he's a least a tiny bit better than Beal

That's entirely reasonable, as if asking for him to facilitate a trade that ends with us taking on Beal and his awful contract.
